My first introduction to boxing was with Duran vs Barkley. I think i was 5-6 years old at that time when my pops took me out to a bar and had some dog meat back in the Philippines. Me being 37 years old now makes me think that if Pacquiao wins against Spence then it would definitely fall under the same category. What was and would be a great experience! War Pacquiao!!

GrandPac hasn't even won against Spence yet (likely won't happen)... Duran all the way!

Surely spence being considered a pfp now for a quite a while as well as pac being older by 5 years makes pac s win more special.
You are trying to overanalyse and its not neccesary. It's not brain svience
Don't think I am over analyzing, its simple like you said. Duran beating Barkley was a tremendous win and resurrected Duran's legand after the loss to Leonard. Yeah it would be a incredible win for Pac if he pulls thus off because Spence is no slouch. Anyway you opinion is as valid as mine so enjoy the fight.

Just a bigger upset which is different to b eing a special win like pac beating spence in that former flyweights, with 70 fights under belt at tail end of careers don't best prime, undefeated pfp fighters. You can't hold pac still being so good against him. Pac can't help it, that if he beats spence it won't be such a big upset. Pac can't help he's still so good. At Pac s stage of career he should be a big underdog like duran was
            Yes, you're probably right.

However, consider that Duran also started as a lightweight... it's not the same as flyweight, I know, but still remarkable. Also, Barkley was coming from the Hearns knockout, at that time he looked scary.

But yes - based on your analysis, I think I understood what you mean and it makes sense for sure.

Duran beating Barkley was a great win and Barkley was scary looking I agree. But I think Errol is a better fighter. I think there were a handful better fighters at 160 than Barkley at the time, whilst Errol has case for being the best WW.
Pac is beating arguably the best WW, arguably one of the best in any weight. Don't think Barkley was quite there

So funny that we're both speaking of Pacquiao vs Spence as a sure win for Manny, which it's not... but sure as hell I'd love it to happen.

Yeh sorry I rate PACs win over Thurman highly also. Pac isn't guarantee a win over someone who's favourite for sure

I looked it up and Duran actually started his pro career as a Featherweight. He beat Ernesto Marcel who went on to become the Featherweight champion. Interestingly Marcel beat Alexis Arguello so Marcel was a damned good fighter.. He also beat Hiroshi Kobayashi who was a former Super Featherweight champion.

Pacquiao likely ko/tko win over Spence?

Duran 5'7 38 yr. old natural lightweight vs. Barkley 6'1 29 yr. old middleweight with 25-4-0 record.

Pacquiao 5'5 43 yr. old natural featherweight vs. Spence 5'10 31 yr. old welterweight with 27-0 record.

Duran was in his 21st year in boxing.

Pacquiao is in his 26th year in boxing.
When did pacquio beat up spence?
