From what I remember, Wilder boxed his most disciplined fight there. Also his legit KD wasn't counted.
Stiverne was probably the worst heavyweight world titlist ever

He definitely boxed more than I've ever seen on that night. I remember watching it and was surprised at Wilder's boxer approach and Stiverne's absolutely lethargic performance. After the fact Stiverne complained he overtrained or had some issue. At the time it seemed plausible because Bermaine looked like a reasonably decent fighter in those two Arreola fights.Comment

He's up there. But Martin and Buster Douglas were worse.
Tyson's corner was TERRIBLE!!!! They even cut his eye by accident.Comment

If your only memory of Douglass is the Tyson or Holyfield fight, then you shouldn’t make comments like this because it’s a bad look for you. He’s not a hall of gamer but he best done good fighters and was actually winning against Tucker before the stoppage. The guys Douglass were beating in the 80s are better than Murray and Stiverne.Comment

Yep. He always exposes how little he knows about the sport.Comment

For me it's John Ruiz. That's why I consider Roy's heavyweight 'win' against him vastly overrated.Comment

Yeah, boxed mostly behind the jab. I was rooting for Stiverne in that fight, but oh well...

Stiverne was undersized, older and was questionable from the time he fought Ray Austin onward, but he put on a career best in that first Arreola fight. He looked like a dangerous man against anyone that night. Rematch was more of a shootout where Stiverne happened to be the last man standing.
He was never that good, but it was clear he was one of those guys that never comes back from a loss. Once Wilder beat him, he completely checked out and just shows up for the money.
Shame the fights with Vitali and Povetkin didn't come off, because we'd have learned a lot more.
