He’s not. Super lightweight has been promoted to death and this guy is a no-name. There’s are eight guys in the division who are a bigger deal than Barrios. And that’s in a division that has an undisputed champion

Also, his fake title came in a fight everyone thinks he lost.

    Its not biased. It’s fact.

This fight would be fine if Davis was moving to 140 and was testing the waters.

Barrios would be a totally suitable warm up fight to Josh Taylor.

Instead, it’s Davis’ one attempt at 140, we’re pretending there’s a title on the line, it’s on PPV and Barrios is being labelled as a threat.

Thats all nonsense. Davis is one of the most talented boxers around and Barrios is a no name. Davis via murder is the obvious outcome.

So if Barrios aquita himself well and wins or loses in an action packed fight what then is the take away?

I forget does Barrios fight tall or does he hunker down? If he fights tall I have no clue how Tank is supposed to land his uppercut

How tf is that not a risk?

Isn't this pretty much what people wanted from Mayweather with Margarito? Who's best fight was like what? Antonio Diaz? And held a vacant WBO title. Essentially what Barrios is now.

Then to say "didn't want to fight legitimate threats" at lightweight.

Well, let's see who these legitimate threats are.

Teofimo – Who was scheduled to fight Kambosos Jr. June 19th but pulled out of the fight due to "positive covid" test, delaying the fight to August potentially.
Haney – Who fought Linares on May 29th.
Garcia – Who ducked a fight with his mandatory, Fortuna and taking a hiatus from boxing because of his mental health concerns, due to his social media use.
Linares – Who fought Haney on May 29th.
Lomachenko – Who is fighting Nakatani on June 26th, the same day that Davis fights Barrios.

That's the "legitimate threats" at the lightweight division. All booked or just fought a 12 round fight just before the start of this month.

What was Davis supposed to do? He tried to set up a fight with Ryan Garcia, who then backed out of that fight to potentially fight in an exhibition before then backing out of that and receiving his mandatory, before backing out of that because of his mental health.

So, what was Davis supposed to do? Sit and wait for Haney or Linares? Hope Teofimo drops his match with Kambosos (and easier fight btw) to fight him? Hope Lomachenko forgets a rematch with Teofimo to fight him?

People always say "xyz is what's wrong with boxing" but reality is, you fans that hate on matches like this. A small guy moving up in weight to fight a pretty risky fight with a bigger boxer; high risk, low reward, are the actual problem with boxing. Sheesh.
yeah this is just like fighting margarito...hes tall therefore they are the same! first of all marg had a legit belt. this barrios guy has an interim belt. second of all marg was ranked #1 in the division for 5 years. this guy just got ranked 8th and that ranking is based on a robbery win so in reality he shouldnt be ranked at all. third of all floyd had years and years to fight marg. if you are talking about when floyd ducked marg in 2006 marg had 2 top 5 wins already, a win over the #6 guy, a couple more top 10 wins, and a win over undefeated sergio martinez(didnt look as good at the time) if you are talking about marg pre 2009 when floyd still could have fought him he had the same resume but added 2 more top wins over clottey and cotto. i dont see a single top 10 win on barrios' ledger. essentially they are the same? umm no.

also tank has had 4 years to fight someone and he hasnt done it at 130, 135, or 140. you cant excuse away 4 years of ducking, dodging, and cherry picked bum fights. we all remember how loma pulled his card and he went running. the bi-tch wouldnt even fight alberto machado or tevin farmer. those are the type of good solid wins that would have boosted his credibility if he wasnt ready for the best. he wasnt even ready for them! he tried fighting abner mares for crying out loud! pathetic!

who did he beat to become wba champ? some guy named miguel flores who had just been ko'd by a 27-8 fighter and a 20-7 fighter before fighting santa cruz. you cant tell that was political maneuvering? santa cruz was not legit at 130. you know this yet you keep pretending we dont know this. we do.

well did you watch the fight with the 6-0 shorter fighter who battered him around the ring for 8 rounds straight? im guessing tank will just do that. seems like a good plan to me.

You’re right, second fight at 130. The point is no one said he was shot, just that he had zero power above 122.
