There is absolutely nothing special about Devin Haney.

Because when I first watched Haney and the couple of fights after, I couldn't put a finger on it but I certainly did not see Mayweather when he did that shoulder roll. I saw a s/hit version of James Toney and that's what has stuck with me since.
    Not one really.

He tries to box similarly to Floyd from the outside but does a very poor example.

Inside he does nothing he's usless there.

Can't really compare to anyone. I've never seen anyone throw those absurd overhand rights he tries to throw.

But beyond all that, what comparison would you make for Devin Haney then? Respectfully.
I wouldn’t even make one, I’m not a big fan of comparing current fighters to past greats. It creates unnecessary expectations for most fighters too.

I'm sure last night's performance won't have changed opinions of him, but Haney went to foreign soil and became undisputed champion. That has to count for SOMETHING, right?

Right. Especially when you look at the rough foul filled fight Manny had with Horn and the outcome. Haney was textbook where Lopez was sloppy vs Kambosos. It was always going to be a very different looking fight. I expected Haney to win on points but maybe get caught once or twice as he has before. I was disappointed in Kambosos he really didn’t seem to have a good plan. No jab. Missed big a few times. Haney’s a tough nut to crack for anyone.

He's a legit world champion now, so he deserves credit.

But I still don't rate him that highly.

Don't get me wrong, he's good. But I don't think he's that good.

You have to admit Haney is one lucky individual. He was able to go straight to the titles without having to go through guys like Commey, Pedraza, Nakatani, probably even Beltran would make him clinch like a leech.

Although I think Commey may be a bit too slow, I'd like to see how Haney would fare against a rangey puncher. I don't think Haney would be able to consistently half-step out of range with Commey.

Only two more names to add to the lineage: Davis and Garcia.

I still don’t see anything special about him. Does beating Kambosos suddenly make him a special fighter? Hell no.

Haney looked good last night though, he won easily. Can he do that against Loma? Tank? Even Garcia? I doubt it, but hey let’s see them fights happen.

Full credit for betting on himself and winning in the away corner.
