There is absolutely nothing special about Devin Haney.

Sadly, too many fans only get excited if a dude is getting ko after ko.

He obviously needs work but his attributes , speed and athleticism give him a chance to be really good.
He’s had several chances to prove himself recently. Gamboa and Linares were fights that were supposed to make him look good and he’s looked horrible. Look at Canelo at 22, look at Floyd, look at Teofimo in recent years, hell even look at AB, he looked way more impressive than Haney ever has.

I’m not saying he’s a bad fighter but there is absolutely nothing special about him. No special attributes or intangibles, nothing to suggest he would even be competitive with guys like Teofimo, Tank, Loma etc.

Well that makes one of you. With Ryan’s horrible defense I can’t see him getting past any of the top fighters. I thought he went with Eddie to work on that. Four fights and he’s still awful defensively.

It’s not like Haney has the power to exploit that though. Ryan walks through him IMO.

Neither did Campbell but he found a way to.

Yeah but look what happened after. I actually think it might look similar to the Campbell fight.

Garcia is definitely overhyped too but I just don’t see how Haney keeps him off.

Naw, I’m not writing him off. But I see the writing on the wall with this kid. He is young and still developing, I guess. One thing I’ll give him Is him being in tremendous shape, which imo helped him when he got clipped abs did the stanky leg. Without that conditioning he’d have truly not made it to the end of that fight. But imo he’s a knock out waiting to happen. They won’t put him anywhere near anyone who has the potential to knock him out for a long while. They’ll feed him washed up plodders or fighters who have a name but are past it. He’ll get the Tank Davis treatment for a while.

I see Haney as a Michael Nunn type fighter, but with a little more speed and athleticism but not quite as boxing skilled as Nunn and just as chinny.

It’s not impossible I just don’t think Garcia’s that good.

I’m not writing him off, but I seem to be less big on him after each of his fights. Everyone should be concerned with his recovery time though

135 lb AB was gigantic at the weight. Now that was where he got most of his advantages and he ****** once he moved up but you atleast knew he had the capacity to move up.

Haney has no power, his chin is shaky and his actual hand speed isnt particularly fast. His reflexes are sharp but his hands arent that fast. At 22 we know he cant stay at 135 forever. I dont think he even beats the best at 135 now. He basically is never going to be the best in any division, that is ok but people always hype like 3 different fighters per division as the best and not everyone can be the best.

Dude sucks. There is a reason he doesn`t fight Lomachenko or Lopez.
