Damn it just hit me that Canelo made his own weight class

Yeah, I remember GGG being WBC mandatory too, because Canelo dropped the belt to avoid the fight, but Golovkin was already IBF champ....so how was he a mandatory?
Right. But arguing against their opinion is pointless. Revisionist history is a hard thing to stop. Canelo vs Cotto was one of the biggest mega fights at the time. Cotto even gave GGG step-aside money, which he accepted. GGG fans were actually asking for Cotto vs GGG at first.
If I remember correctly GGG accepted step aside money twice. He was saying he was after the belts, he just wanted the belts. But if he just wanted the belts he could have forced the ABC org's to give him his shot at the titles because he was mando IIRC. Bu accepted money because he preferred to 1. Fight fighters fresh off of coming up from a lower weight class. And 2. He wanted the big money, understandably. He's a prize fighter so of course he wants the big bucks. But just saying.
EDIT - Won the interim WBC belt from Rubio. Forgot about that.Comment

Yup.
It was pretty well documented too. As Cotto and GGG's team had an agreement to not talk about the step aside deal. After Cotto was interviewed and he let it slip, Loeffler was livid at Cotto for breaking the gag order. Cotto was mad at paying 7 figures to GGG to step aside. So he showed his displeasure of it in an interview.
Here is Team GGG telling Cotto they would allow Cotto-Canelo only for step aside money.
WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs) is going to push to fight the winner of the June 6th bout between WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto and challenger Daniel Geale. Golovkin, who holds the WBC interim-middleweight title, is the mandatory challenger to Cotto. If Cotto wins, he is expected to face Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in the fall. Golovkin wants to return in September and has his eye on the WBC title. So far there is no step aside agreement in place where Cotto can make another voluntary defense.

Thanks. I was still drinking in 2015 so my memory is somewhat....foggy lol. I recently rewatched and scored Ward/Kessler forgetting it was a stoppage....because who expects Ward to stop someone?
Yup.

But I'm not upset about Ca$hnelo YOU are.
No hard feelings against Borat stans who give draw rounds out or score activity. The point of the picture is showing that all activity is NOT equal which is demonstrated by Canelo STYLING on Bo**** face...doesnt even reveal the body damage but Borat needed 9 months off for a reason.Comment
