I don't get why this (the bolded) is so complicated, Great post. people are comparing Haye to usyk now like this is the issue. Usyk is a better fighter by far. If you watch tapes of Usyk at cruiser he is phenomenal. He moves his head, he adjusts in the ring, can throw all punches... One of the best I have seen. BUT he also depends on being physical with his opponent and he does not have a big punch. Haye is not a phenomenal fighter but a world class puncher, who like Wilder has learned to stay away from the opponent (ambush fighter), threaten the opponent with the punch, and consequently use the big punch, which for Haye was one of the strongest.

You can watch what Usyk did to fight up, and it isn't pretty lol. He lost all head movement, emphasized the fighting lines at the expense of angles, and holds his head straight up to get maximum visibility.... I understand his problem, he cannot physically go in there and throw his weight around, slip punches, and turn his opponent into his shots...He cannot risk the precise body shots with the bigger boys. So what he has done is make the fighting lines longer, almost like an ambush fighter, but more like an ammy who is fighting off a line to hit with as many punches as one can... straight being the fastest way to the target.

I would implore anyone who thinks Haye is a better fighter than Usyk to watch Usyk at cruiser. Then watch him when he fights Bellew, who is an excellent fighter imo... to see what usyk has become.

I agree. I thought I said as much, if not let me clarify: Hayes is more equipt to fight as a heavyweight. But seriously.... Haye is not "anything" the best ever seen lol. Unless Usyk suprises us all... then I will eat crow and learn something.

After moving up from CW Holyfield fought 6 times at HW before he went for a title against Buster Douglas. During that time many were writing off his chances of ever becoming HW champion for the same reason that many write off Usyk today. They thought he wasn't big enough or strong enough for the best in the division.
