Yeah this the right way to look at it, IMO. We all know Arum's a snake..... but why the hell would he not want to cash out Fury in one of the biggest fights in boxing history? Fury is a nutcase that could implode any minute, he's not a cash-cow that can be milked for a decade+ like Pacquiao. Arum and Todd know this.
I think a lot of people don't really understand this arbitration: when it comes to two businesses taking things to arbitration, the arbitrator's job isn't simply to review the contracts and interpret the contract back to both parties, declaring who is right and who is wrong. Arbitration is about resolving the issue by presenting what's fair to both parties to avoid years of costly litigation.
What I'm saying here is: an arbitrator could absolutely look at the case and say "Okay, the contract clearly expired, but it wasn't possible to make the fight during the original window without a crowd and still make money due to the pandemic. So I'm ruling that you need to fight Wilder or work out a compensation for him to step aside."
My source here is that I worked in contracts for years and saw plenty of situations go to arbitration and court.
