    The fight was boring.

Hagler was chasing SRL by following him step for step.
Not cutting off the ring and his combos were so telegraphed
Stevie Wonder could have avoided them.
    Very UnHagler like.

SRL was moving and tapping. Softer than glancing blows.

Hagler said a challenger can't pitty pat the crown off his head.

The judges proved that it can happen

Any other 2 names and no one is talking about this snozefest.

The whole goal of boxing is to knock your opponent. You do that by damaging them. SRL had no intention of being aggressive or go for a knockout.

I disagree completely. The goal of boxing is to win and you can achieve that in a few different ways.

My point is that you don't get to decide that SRLs punches weren't effective and Hagler's were. Both resisted the punches landed on them and went the distance. That approach means you've basically started judging the fight with Hagler at an advantage. He didn't need to land as many punches as SRL and you'd still score for Hagler. That's using prior knowledge rather than just scoring this fight.

Nope. I thought Leonard legitimately won.

rounds 6,9 and 11 leonard traded evenly with him and pretty much took everything hagler through at him.
hagler was a brilliant box fighter and people think he was a just a tough come forward beast but hagler was much more than that....best switch hitter of all time , brilliant counter puncher who was at his best when the fighter pressed him and his performance against sibson was brutal and he sliced him up like a surgeon going to work on an operating table.
haglers achilles was actually boxers and slick fighters and leonard used his natural ability to outbox him.
I grew up in the 80’s and hagler was the most intimidating and hardest MF to ever lace up the gloves.
Such a sad moment when I heard he died yesterday and he was taking away to early.

Leonard won the fight by controlling distance and momentum

Hagler is my fav of the four kings but I have to say that Leonard won it 7-5. Hagler just came on to late. They were fighting Leonard’s fight and he looked like the ring general in the majority of the rounds. Hagler wanted a 15 round fight which was denied and I think he would have won a rematch but he lost this won.

The perception that Leonard coming out of retirement and performing so well had everyone looking at him during the fight. Hagler just came out of a war and against Mugabi so the perception was that he was going to run over Leonard. I have watch the fight so many times and it is so close. Sometimes I give it to Hagler, sometimes to Leonard. A draw would had been better but that is the way the decision went. I always liked Hagler better but that fight showed how great Leonard was.
