Boxers can handle themselves better in a streetfight than most other martial artists probably.

Actually if you have a good command of pressure points and or sweet spots for punching and kicking, (most boxers do) you should be able to handle yourself.

this is my take on streetfights. I have been in few, after all whats to be gained if your not getting paid for it.

The people on here say that it would end up on the ground. That is common for people who dont know how to box. But a common person vs a professional fighter is most likely going to be a mismatch. The common man runs straight for you, swinging wide hooks (or slaps) with his head held straight in the air. An experienced boxer just sticks a jab in there face, steps to either side and the guy has run right past them. The common man does not know what to do with lateral movement, it ties them up in knots, leaving them exposed to what ever the experienced fighter wants to dig into them. Ofcourse anything can happen in a fight but thats what I experienced. Lateral movement and fast combinations with some thing behind them, not slaps and swats. no contest.....Rockin'

Didn't Bernard Hopkins knock out some 400 plus pound guy who lunged at him a few weeks before the fight with De La Hoya? I thought I saw in an interview where he didn't really want to talk about it but mentioned that it was a 6 inch left hook. He stated that he was fortunate that he didn't get hurt when the guy fell on him after he was KO'ed.

You summed it up pretty well. Fight ends up on a ground because both contestants dont know how to fight.
Boxers usually just move out of average person's way and punch from distance. Also sidesteps is what let me beat the wrestlers when I fought them. Boxers biggest advantages in a fight are, besides knowing how to punch, stamina, ability to block punches or slip them and of course the ability to keep it cool.

i am just an amateur fighter and the last time i fought guy i hit him once with a right hand and then he fell down right there and that was the whole fight. if some amateur can do that imagine what world class boxer could do.

I got into a fight tonight actually, haha good thing the thread was brought back. I was at a friends house playing poker and just hanging out and some kid came, he was about 6'3 170 I guess, pretty big kid. And he started talking all this **** to everyone, so i told him to stfu. The kid jumped on me and I pushed him off and threw a right to his head and dropped him and it was done. But the kid just wanted more, he started talking again, so I grabbed him and rammed him into a wooden wall and then he grabbed my hoodie and pulled it over my face. I threw like 5 wild punches that all landed to his right eye, and the kid starts crying and apologizing. His eye swelled like crazy, and it turned black in about 3 hours. That was my first fight in awhile outside of boxing, pretty funny too. Everyone there was stunned, since the kid is obviously bigger than me.
