These are very grave errors. Let me correct you that both fighters have not signed the contracts. Both only received drafts of the contract, and Arum formally informed the public and media on the match prematurely without informing the Pacquiao Camp, which drew the ire of its lawyers.

One simple solution for Pacquiao is simply not sign. What would he gain if this would be just an exhibition match, not a championship match, yet he would be fighting a champion at the 141-147 division? What would he gain if he establishes a very very hard victory yet people smear his victory just because its the maximum that he can do against a very tough and unusually heavy opponent at fight night?

I advise Pacquiao to simply not sign and just fight Berto at 147 for a crown. Would Cotto and his fans complain? Oh, yes they will. But Pac and his fans don`t really need him.

That`s when the real crying starts, ask PBF who could have had the honor and chance to fight and defeat a P4P champ outright but blew it.

Clearly you dont understand that Arum is the boss and Pac is going to fight Cotto or Top Rank is gonna lose Cotto and alot of money in the process....

Arum is in a tough spot and Cotto has a lot of clout in the situation. Cotto can say **** it and leave, go to Golden Boy and get PBF. Cotto will be missing out on a big payday but he will have his pride and principles intact knowing he wasnt bullied around.

Solution- Fight at 147 for Cottos belt. Everyones happy.

first of all, i'm filipino and a diehard pacquiao fan (to some of you haters a pac nuthugger) but i have to side with cotto's camp for dis*****g the catchweight if their gonna fight for his title. It about the principal here not about the ****in contract. If pacquiao wants to win his 7th division title, then cotto should be allowed to weigh in at the welterweight limit of 147lbs. I have to tell the truth and not be biased. Let's not be hyprocrites here people, cause if it was the other way around pacquiao would do the same thing. Besides, i think pacquiao has a chance of beating cotto even if he weighed in at 147lbs, plus all the pacquiao haters won't be ****in makin ****** ass excuses on why cotto lost the fight. Bottomline personal pride aside, if the belt is on the line then cotto should be allowed to weigh in at the welterweight limit of 147lbs. Anyway you look at it people, if you challenge a champion in a certain division for the belt, that defending champion should be able to weigh in at the max limit, which in this case 147lbs.

I don't get it, some of you guys swear like Cotto was force to fight at 145. Pacquiao was searching for a fight and Cotto whisper out that if they meet up at 145 and no less Cotto would not have a problem. Now the fight is being made and Cotto seems to have a problem putting is belt on the line. Any where from 141-147 is welter, Cotto said 145 is good enough.

First of all...I didn't see the actual contract so I don't know if they both agreed to fight at a catchweight of 145lbs, with COTTO'S WW title on the line or they agreed to fight at 145lbs and PACQUIAO's camp assumed that the title was on the line. Now a friend in here showed me of actual fights that took place at a catchweight with the title on the line. If both fighters agreed then its cool, but it sounds to me that Cotto wasn't putting his title on the line and Pacquiao and his camp is assuming. Everyone here is just assuming things, we all don't know if they both agree to fight for COTTO'S TITLE at 145lbs, but it sounds to me that this is all misunderstanding, that PACQUIAO's camp assumed that fighting COTTO will be fighting for his title. I don't know what the rules are and what the contract has to specifically state. In my opinion, PACQUIAO has nothing to lose by fighting COTTO at 147lbs..win or lose...PACQUIAO will still be a winner and will be respected for fighting a much bigger guy and will be big for PACQUIAO's legacy. With that said...I think PACQUIAO should just fight him at 147lbs and don't give all this haters another reason to make more dumbass excuses...

I think that's the whole main problem, i don't think they really had finalized the deal yet, and Arum prematurely announced the fight right away. I'm almost sure Manny and his camp did not agree for a non-title fight, because again, there is no point and there's nothing for Manny to gain without the title.
