If you think Hatton-Khan would be the biggest fight in British History I really truly feel sorry for you.

the geezer has already pointed this out to you, but you dont seem to comprehend. hatton v lazcano - 56,000 people at the gate. hatton v mayweather - 35,000 hatton fans travel to las vegas to watch hatton. what other fighter takes that support? nobody. hatton - pac - 15,000 fans travel to las vegas again, in a recesion. A hatton v khan fight at wembley = 100,000 fans at the gate. take away the PPV and broadcast this fight on terrestrial TV and you will smash the records set easily.

Ok, for a start boxing is a sport. UFC is an organization and a company. It would make more sense to compare Golden Boy or Top Rank or the WBO to UFC; it makes no sense comparing boxing to UFC.

Secondly, boxing is absolutely engrained in the heritage of so many countries it is not about to go away. It's such a part of mainstream culture that it's not something that can be removed. People everyday make passing and casual references to boxing terminology and well as the fact EVERYONE knows what boxing is. How many people know what MMA or The UFC is?

Thirdly, you are implicitly speaking just for the USA. Boxing is booming in Europe (Germany and the UK especially) as well as the fact Mexico (population ~110M) will never let boxing die. They don't even want to know about MMA. Let alone Asia where Pacquaio has taken boxing's popularity to new heights.

At the same time I could place a bet on 10 different fights that are going to be on UFC101 in a weeks time.

World Championship Boxing - NO Action in Vegas

Scrubby UFC undercards- Get your bets in early!

Uhh...normally betting on boxing in Vegas is usually reserved for the super elite fights. The bookies make more money that way. Not to mention, the fights that took place last saturday weren't even held in Las Vegas. I mean seriously, how many people who don't follow boxing on a regular, like us fanatics, are gonna know who Timothy Bradley or Nate Campbell or Devon Alexander are.

As far as the UFC/MMA is concerned, i'm sure it's the same way. You wouldn't be able to place a bet on the MMA fights that are on ****e TV or any other lower division cable networks. So does that mean that MMA is a dying sport?

The logic in your reasoning is fallible. MMA is nowhere near close to what Boxing has accomplished throughout the centuries. I don't think it's going anywhere. MMA will continue to flourish and change and adapt as long as there's a fan base. Period. Some people find that stuff entertaining, I don't. Or i don't find MMA half as entertaining as boxing. IMO: Boxing along with its history has waay more class. I never caught on to MMA even when it first hit the states in the early 90's. Even as a martial artist/boxer, i never captured its allure.

            .
Did you even read my post? Cause it sure doesn't seem like it.

You could place on a bet on 10 different UFC matches including ones between guys with 5 or 6 career fights. Fights that were a week away. Yet no wagering on World Title Boxing matches happening that night.

LMFAO. Is this guy telling me there are people in the world that don't know what boxing is and they only know MMA?

              LMFAO.

EVERYONE knows what boxing is. The poorest peasants out in some Chinese wilderness will know what boxing is, my mum knows what boxing is, kids running around in Africa know what boxing is. Which is amazing considering it is a sport with many rules.

What is MMA? It's just fighting - fighting is what everyone does all over the world and yet who knows what MMA stands for or actually is? There are so many varieties - it's not nearly as cohesive and this major looming threat as people make out. People into sports know what MMA actually is.... it's not mainstream at all. When a sports commentator says 'Look at these two heavyweights slugging it out...'. You think they are thinking about MMA or boxing in their minds?

Anyway, why are you still going on about Vegas? Vegas is for greedy promoters and casinos. It has drawn the blood out of boxing and taken it away from the fans.

The UK will never see another fight as big as Benn-Eubank and Germany will never have a fighter more popular than Maske or Michalezewski.
The Klit's and the Abrahammer is nearly as popular as Maske.

Boxing is booming in Germany and that's a big market.

Without the Klits it would be dead.

There is only support for Abraham because of the foundation set by the Klitschkos.

Like I said, eventually the Germans will tire of supporting Non-German fighters.
