If Manny wants to fight for the welterwieght title then the FULL welterweight limit should be enforced. Regardless if 145 is at welterweight so is 147 and a fighter should be alloted the full span of the weight limit to defend his title. Why would you ask the campion to give up those two pounds that are in the welterweight limit yet ask for the title to be on the line?

Its real simple , its a WW fight the title is on the line , the 145 is to even the size difference between the 2 within the legal limits of a title fight and 145 is private treaty between the 2 fighters , Cotto has a huge weight advantage and is being compensated a great deal to agree to come to a fairer weight within the WW division , you have 2 issues going on here , 1st concerning the title its a WW fight it should be on the line , 2 the catch weight is agreed to by both .

Cotto is forcing Manny to fight at 147 for the belt. Why all this catchweigh? If MP is a Beast has Speed,Power,the Skills to beat Cotto then why not at 147? MP fought DLH at 147 and no problems about that. Saying PR's complain? At least we are smart enough to know when someone is trying to screw us! this is what cotto should do;

get the money part right the way you want it & technically & officially get the fight signed by both parties. get it in paper. you dont wanna pay the sanc fees fine dont do it, if it looks like the wbo is gonna put it on the line whether u vacate or not dont pay the sanc fees just make sure you & manny sign the contract.

then when they give you hours to try to lose the weight say no....

There`s just one problem with that. Similar to delaHoya`s contract, Cotto will be penalized 1M for every pound in excess of 145 lbs. as stipulated in the signed contract. So by the time Cotto signs, he won`t get his hands on that whole amount, only the amount with deducted penalties.
