There is a difference. Not that I want to fuel the Pachuggers fire, but it's the welterweight LIMIT. Just like the middleweight LIMIT. Fighters can always come in under the limit, just not over.

Depends how famous you are. Leonard won a title without ever fighting in between the limited weights for that title so I can't see why it couldn't be done as above also. You just need to be really famous.

But I'm not even convinced that Pacquiao is getting more money for a Cotto fight, because Cotto didn't just come out and flat out say that he would take less money than Pacquiao like Mosley did when the negotiation process of this fight started.

There are two reasons why he'll make more against Cotto: (a) Cotto is a bigger draw than Mosley, and (b) Cotto-Pac is an all Top Rank fight so there is only one promoter's fee.

And Cotto is reportedly getting around 35% anyway.
