Depends how famous you are. Leonard won a title without ever fighting in between the limited weights for that title so I can't see why it couldn't be done as above also. You just need to be really famous.

If you want history at all costs Freddy, make the fight at 147. Good to see the vast majority of people on here standing by Cotto, fans or not.

Co-sign. The path to greatness does not allow for shortcuts. Either way, Pac's gets his a** handed to him, 147 or 145, belt or no belt.

And by the way, this thread is insane. PBF, cant wait for your weak ass PPV numbers.

                  legitimacy and legacy

i agree that if we want legacy from manny he should fyt at legit ww limit.
alibis and criticisms, even doubts, will not stop if he wins the belt at 145.
all praises and props will come manny's way whether he wins or loses against a legit welter in cotto.
this will be a bigger risk for manny...but legitimacy of title equates better with legacy.

The same guy that started this thread by saying that the fight won't mean nothing with out the title (Roach) says today that Cotto will be exposed in the ring.
                    Translation???

                    THE FIGHT WILL TAKE PLACE!!!!

There are two reasons why he'll make more against Cotto: (a) Cotto is a bigger draw than Mosley, and (b) Cotto-Pac is an all Top Rank fight so there is only one promoter's fee.

And Cotto is reportedly getting around 35% anyway.
