No, there's a lot of fighters way back who climb many divisions than Manny... Roberto Duran, Henry Armstrong, Sugar Ray Robinson... etc...

    But, when you look at Manny's titles from 112-140, it's 6 world titles;
112, 122, 126(no belt), 130, 135. 140... He didn't fought at JR. Bantamweight and Bantamweight.. He Jump directly to 122 which the Jr Featherweight...

If I were to say, based on the accomplishments that he had achieved..
I would consider him to be the best division climber in history assuming he will win against Cotto which will be his 7th title in different divisions.
    oscar got six...

but would u consider him a better weight scaler than duran who has "only" four?

in the old days guys you fight at 135 and 147 are around 135 and 147.

so when you go from 126 to 135. you're only fighting guys 9 lbs. bigger.

nowadays guys at 147 come in at 160 , 165 or even 170.

henry armstrong for instance was not much smaller than pacquiao yet cotto is actually bigger than cerefino who he challenged for the middleweight belt.
this makes a lot of sense...

respect to the old time greats but they are sometimes put on a pedestal so high that comparing them to today's fighters is treated as an insult to them.

Does it make a difference fighting in the pro or amateur ranks. They both weighed the same at 16 and both weigh the same at 147.
yes there is. cause floyd wont be able to brag that hes undefeated if you will count his loses in the amateurs.

Yup, Oscar got six. Jones Jr got six too..

No, question about that. No doubt about that when it comes to scaling weights, Duran don't care about it. He fought at welterweight weighing at 135. He even weigh from 147 to 200+ after their 1st fight with Sugar Ray Leonard. Then goes back to 147 for a rematch.. That guy's a whack! But he stopped in the middle of that fight.

Oscar does not have six. He robbed Sturm then get KTFO by Hopkins. Let's get real here.

Duran is an excellent example of a weight climber. DOMINANTED Lightweight and then after most fighters would have called it a day you found him in the ring with one of the best middleweights ever in Hagler a few years later.

LOL lets get the fact that his flyweight title was a fluke......couldnt hold the title for more than one fight(against a bum, missed weight and got KO'ed against a more respectable opponent).....122-140 is still pretty impressive but he was a 140lb since his 130lb days...armstrong, greb, langford are more immpressive IMO cus they were usually the smaller men on fight night......

Ivan Calderon since going up in weight has fought guys at least 4 inches bigger than him. Its like Cotto fighting Margarito every single time. Cazares was 5 inches bigger than him, and Mayol 4.

Pacquaio has been great but he's 5"6 and a half. and besides De La Hoya, the tallest he has faced in his career was Jorge Solis at featherweight who was 5"8 and a half. Solis cant even beat a guy with 11 losses.

Calderon beat Cazares at his best weight when Cazares didnt have trouble, and in the second fight when Cazares came as a superfeather weight, weighing almost 20 more pounds than Calderon.
