It's just a general shift upwards, although I will admit some welters take it to the next level (Looking at you Clottey).
he was only around 145 or so at 130 for his last few fights.

he was less than that when he jumped to 130.

Roy Jones from 160 to 200.Roy Jones even fought at 154 once

Sam Langford was a boxer who fought greats from the lightweight division right up to the heavyweights, beating many champions in the process
so were including amateur careers now just to provide an answer? and like i said, even if pac outweighed his opponents it doesnt change the fact that he fought from 106-147. nice try but still garbage. try again

There are too many historic weight climbers in history to call pacman the best.

Geez Roberto duran went from Bantamweight to Lightheavy weight! and he caught titles

I used Floyd's weight as an example. When you are 16, you are not even developed yet. Hence why Pacman feat is heavily overrated and Floyd who was 106 at 16 fought at 154.

WOW, all that proves is that Pacman can make low weights but fight night is better than this opponents. Real greatness there

Well of course. Also to suggest fighters didn't rehydrate, eat loads after weigh in back in the day is ludicrous. Obviously not as much but weight gain from food and water was certainly still going on.

To me - it doesn't really matter. You have to make sure you are strong at the weigh in and feel good and not drained, you can then replenish your energy stocks overnight with some food and water.

Look at Floyd - he does it right. He fights were he feels comfortable and only gains a few pounds after the weigh in and performs great.

yeah but floyd is the exception. few guys do that nowadays.

most don't keep in shape year round like he and hopkins does.

plus pacquiao is no worse than anyone else.

flawless just likes to make a big deal over nothing. like coming in the ring at 133 and his opponent coming in at 131 is a big deal.

i laugh when everyone acts shocked that he came in at 145 for his fight with marquez at 130. lol even tiny jmm was 141.

how much do they think guys like valero and guzman weigh fight night when they fight at 130?
