I think it was pretty obvious that he was too tired to defend himself properly from the very start of the round. I'm not saying Wlad has Pacquiao stamina but it's certainly better than that. He wasn't hurt, he was just unbelievably tired and it was said right after the fight that something was wrong and it was a very known thing around the time.

Fast forward to the rematch: He made easy work of Brewster, which was a sign that he would have probably stopped him in the first fight had he not mysteriously gassed out.

The only legitimate loss on his record is Sanders whom I believe would lose to Wlad 9 out of 10 times. That was just his night to shine. He put that fast, hard, straight left hand to use at the right point in the fight.............very early and often.

Fought AND beat a young Ray Mecer when he was 41 (same year he took Holyfield 12 rounds). Beat Witherspoon, beat Cooney, beat Berbick, beat Mike Weaver, beat Earnie Shavers, beat Ken Norton.

He might not of beat every top contender but that hardly warrants an accusation of ducking considering he fought much harder opposition than them contenders when he was 40+. Your accusation of ducking is unfounded, it's not a fact.
We are talking about title reigns, not what previously retired fighters did in their 40's. Call it whatever you want, Holmes didn't defend his title against the top heavyweights in his era. Maybe in 10 years we can talk about who was the better 40+ y/o heavyweight.

Yeah, Easteuropean fighters are so unlucky. Same with Golota. He beat Ruiz and Byrd but was denied the wins. He quit against Grant after owning him for 9 rounds. I'll never understand why. And then Vitali with his cut stoppage against Lewis, who he was dominating despite what any stinking Lewis fan may say. All Lewis did was landing that big punch and that's it. But let's not go there. The point is-Easteuropeans lose often due to bad luck, misfortune or accident than because they are not good enough.

BUT a man's word CANNOT be used as evidence unless you have proper evidence to back this up. Wlad didn't look like himself last night i'll be the first to admit that, but it could have been a number of things like not training properly, throwing too much early, or merely having an "off" day.

You can't use Wlads word as evidence that he was drugged though, otherwise you'd have to accept the numerous other ridiculous excuses.
I can agree with not taking every boxers excuse for sure. I pretty much dismissed the claim by Wlad as well. I think he was fustrated that it happened to him and it was obvious he was suffering from something happening that wasn't normal. My guess is that he had ate something somewhere and sometime during fight week that would take effect on him the next time he would be exerting himself. It happened to be the fight that he exerted himself, and into the history books we go.

Just my theory. I think it really doesn't matter now though because he went back and corrected the mistake much like Lennox did. Twice.

Are you seriously saying that Holmes hit harder than Corrie Sanders?

And for that matter, Brewster hit harder than Holmes too.

Holmes was a great fighter, but just an average puncher compared to other heavyweight champions.

Rahman said nobody hit him like Sanders. Brewster is the only man to stop Golota in less than a minute. And the only man to knock out a HEALTHY Golota in the first round. In that shameful Lewis fight he was so full of lydocaine he could barely move. He collapsed after the fight and had to be resuscitated on the way to the hospital.
