Yes it was the IBO which i believe Barrera vacated or something can't remeber exactly. End of the day Naz held 3 out of 4 belts and would have held the WBA belt if not for dumb boxing politics beating many former and current World champs on the way to clearing a division.

no hating but barrera takes it. i think hamed is really not in his class imo. barrera was too much of a boxer for hamed and he would and was in counter land all night even if he could get off. timing is the single most important thing about that fight.

Hamed was like 27 when this fight happened. What was his prime? This is usually the age in where boxers are really at their best and take the big fights. Hamed in my opinion just didn't have the style to beat Barrera.

IMO Hameds prime was 1996ish. I think he was sliding by the time he fought Barerra hence him struggling with Sanchez right before, and Calvo right after.

Hamed stopped training, became more of a star and less of a boxer. He would come into fights thinking he had a right to victory.

He was being trained by his brothers who were yes men, hwho sat there and said he looked amazing as he did average pad work.

Basically he just stopped being hungry and working hard, and it showed.
