I dont think he was at his best.

Also, Medina fights nothing like Barrera. Barrera was stopped by Jones, Medina had never been stopped, and Hamed punished him so much he quit in the 11th and was down in the 3rd.
Well i personally didn't think there was anything, wrong with Naseem Hamed. Infact if he wouldn't of been fighting fit, he would of lost because he had to dig very deep to win.

I didn't say Manuel Medina fights like MAB, but the thing he did do similar to MAB. Was counter punch Naseem Hamed effectively, infact if i remember rightly i had Naseem Hamed behind on the scorecards, until he caught up to Manuel Meinda.

Lastly i haven't seen the fight in along time, but i thought the corner stopped the fight ? i don't remember Manuel Medina quitting.

Im not talking the none interested Hamed who met Barerra in 2001,
but the man who had Brendan Ingle in his corner,
the naz who threw combos and actually trained for his fights.
E.g. When he fought Steve Robinson

      Poll to come,

      Cheers
Hamed was caught much more as he stepped up in class. Augie Sanchez, Wayne McCullough, and Kevin Kelly had figured out how to get to Hamed.
Barrera carried it out to perfection.

But Hamed also started to rely on his power too much and wasnt training.

I think its very difficult to tell what would of happened a few years earlier. Hamed by KO, or Barrera countering and frustrating Hamed?

IMO the flaws were always there, Barrera would always of exposed them.

Hamed just didn't want it as badly as Barrera did. His in-ring clowning did him in and he lost rounds he could have won. I see the same thing happening again theoretically if they were to fight again and come in with that work ethic.

True. Ur right, the corner probably pulled him out. Still, my point was he was a mess. Bloody face, eyes closed.
And Barreras style is just different from Medinas.
The judges had Hamed winning. Il also have to watch it again.

I just didnt think Medina was the best comparison for Barrera. I think the other fighters i mentioned had his number, but werent as skillful as Barrera.

Like i said above, i think Barrera would always expose Hamed. Even if Hamed punched in combos, he had no defence up close.

I think the key thing is Barrera's tactics.

Hamed was expecting an aggressive, come-forward guy who left himself open, and who had been KO'd by Junior Jones (a hard puncher for sure, but Jones didn't hit as hard as Hamed).

As it turned out, they got a skillful, composed boxer working the jab and not getting wild.

Even if Hamed was fully trained and focused, I feel he still would've been surprised to see Barrera fighting that I way, and that may well have been the difference.

Barrera had the perfect tactic to win, but Prime Naz had that extra confidence and speed. He was awkward and less orthodoxed to judge, but more importantly, he trained hard.

The guy that fought Barrera had hand problems, a trainer that made him more orthodox (Steward and that other guy) and he was too ****y. Once you believe in your power alone in boxing, you lose to the best. There's a reason why there aren't purely strong men at the top of boxing, but men with skills and dedication.

Hamed never had some mythical prime where he did not get nailed and outboxed for periods in fights, not when he stepped upto world level anyway, well he beat Steve Robinson who was a goodish fighter but no where near Barrera's class.

Hamed had **** performance after **** performance when he stepped into world class and if had not had such devastating power he would of probably lost a few of those fights.

I do love the way his fan think that all the stylistic problems are suddenly erased because he is in his mythical prime lol, Hamed never had a period in his career where he looked stellar, not when he was fighting World class fighters anyway, when he fought Euro level fighters maybe.

Whenever you speak about a puncher people have to overate how good they actually were because they were entertaining to watch, case in point Mike Tyson,Naseem Hamed.
