You think most of the kids on here have watched boxing that far back?

I know they haven't but that's why I make sure to bring it up. It's not something far-fetched like Calzaghe's mythical one-punch KO power that disappeared one day. You don't even have to go back that far - I was watching the second Echols fight a couple weeks ago and I was just blown away.

You don't think he had more of a dig back in the day? Not even against his D-level opponents... I know Eubank was at the end of his career but it's not everyone that could drop Eubank.

I'm not saying it was one punch KO power, but he did have considerable weight behind them that seemed to dwindle into a trickle as his career went on.

But I agree Calz never really fought anyone of note that often (I do think his record is slightly better than the average NSB poster appears to, however).

But it's important to acknowledge the myth of Calzaghe "fighting euro's his hole career, lamo, pwn!"

After he won the vacant WBO belt only 8 of his next 23 fights were against European opponents.
Well Every opponent Hopkins fought since he won his IBF title till the end of his reign was a Top 10 Ring Magazine Middleweights. Some ended up nobodies, and some just couldn't get passed Hopkins, And some moved up, only to lose more.

Cant say the same about Calzaghe resume that he fought top 10 ring magazine Supermiddleweights

I think he put more into his punches back in the day where it seemed that, towards the end of his career, switched up the amount of speed & power he put into his shots. To Calzaghe a slapper is silly but he was never a one-punch KO guy. He always had solid pop but not much more.

I agree, he was never a one punch KO kind of guy. But it was strange to see him get almost Malignaggiesque towards the end there.

I saw him tag both Hopkins & Jones with some pretty good shots...

CHRIS BYRD Olympic silver medalist with 200+ fights and Calzaghe beat him.
The truth is, Joe Calzaghe is very underrated, partly because he's not American.

Urtal was a good fighter though, his fights with world-class boxers have always been competitive.

Bernard Hopkins lost to a far worse fighter. After beating Hopkins, Clinton Mitchell was brutally KOed in the first round of his fifth fight, and he then quit boxing.
