his 160 reign is overrated and probably one of the weakest eras ever at 160. in fact 168 was a better division than 160 during hopkins reign.

    tarver is ****e.

yes pavlik is a great light heavyweight.

unifying the belts was a good thing.

    calzaghe won that fight.
You cannot be serious can you? Tarver is "****e" but Tarver beat Roy Jones two arguably three times in addition to Glen Johnson someone who Calzaghe was signed to fight twice but had "PHANTOM" injuries against. You're comparing those guys to guys like "Charles Brewer" and friggin Robin Reid?? Are you kidding me??

Why not laud Omar Sheika since you're just rattling off names. Trust me on this, Hopkins middleweight division era was MUCH better than Calzaghe's Super Middleweight division. Hopkins (as someone explained) also annihilated a prime, undefeated Glen Johnson. Decimated former champion William Joppy who is EASILY on par if not better than those dudes in his prime you named that Calzaghe beat.

Unlike Frank Warren who protected Calzaghe for years, Hopkins actually ventured out of the country to take on charges and please don't say, "Calzaghe went to Germany to fight that stud Mario Veit".

Calzaghe was good and his activity is a problem but as someone said, only "fanboys" would say he's great.

Heck Hopkins was BEGGING him for a rematch in his backyard where he could have easily had 50K on his side. Why didn't the so called stud you're defending accept the challenge when it would have been easily his highest payday against an OLD Man??

look up who was at 160 and compare who was at 168 during the times bernard was champion.

omar sheika was a good fighter. my favorite super middleweights a few years back.

roy jones was past prime. losing to tarver and johnson was proof of that.

hopkins took 7 years before trying to unify at 160.

hopkins division was very weak during his reign.

          sounds like calzaghe to me.

only difference is calzaghe's biggest name wins were against old ass fighters while hopkins' biggest wins were against guys much smaller than him.

Not strictly true, you have to score with the white of the glove in amateur Boxing, those slaps would not score points with an amateur judge.

Yes, I know both were at light-middleweight....Robert Mccracken(Froch's trainer) also beat antonio tarver in the amatuers but its the amateurs not pro level.

Hopkins is past prime, The Taylor fights showed that, but he still is better then Calzaghe.
And took 7 years to unify at 160? So the **** what. He had a Major belt for that seven year. You cant argue with Hopkins Competition like i said he had a REAL BELT (IBF) compared to Calzaghes (WBO) so the level of competition isn't debatable. And for years Hopkins was destroying Top 10 Middleweights while Calzaghe was fighting guys with Weak Records who weren't Top 20 Super Middleweights.

robin reid , richie woodhall and mikkel kessler were all wbc champs at 168.

jeff lacy and charles brewer were both ibf champs at 168.

mikkel kessler and byron mitchell were both wba champs at 168.
i said this already once. Jeff Lacy and Mikkel Kessler are Garbage. They haven't proved that they are ****. And if Reid, Woodall were Champs when Calzaghe fought them, why didn't he get there belts??? because they weren't champs, thats why.. It's obvious is your have a WBC, WBA, IBF belt, that your level of competition is different then a WBO, IBO, IBC, etc. unless you already had a major belt or a p4p title, and Calzaghe didn't have none of those when he held the WBO all them years. He's whack son,
