I applaud Victor Ortiz for quitting.

It's about time someone came about and simply said "No, I just quit because I didn't want to end up like Ali, and a complete vegetable that can't even speak, just to please a bunch of ****ing ******* on the internet who have absolutely never stepped into the ring at such a high level and had to fight for money and yet have the temerity to call me *****! I would rather come back and fight properly and healthily another day and win."
I think he gave us a good fight and will surely be back, hopefully better than ever and with the mind set to now make sure he doesn't do what wankers like the majority of this board want him to do.
Get over yourselves you bunch of hypocritical ******. Every single one of you would ****e your pants in a second if faced with the prospect of some guy across the ring who has knocked out every single one of his opponents, and he wants to literally pulverize your face into moosh.
Oh, wait, that's right, you all just sit on your arses and play on your computer typing about a fighter who gives you entertainment as being a ***** for providing you with one of the best fights of the year so far! You ****ing bunch of wanking **** ******s. Damn, I'm sick of hearing pathetic little kids whine about a fighter quitting. How many of you have been smashed in the face over and over by a guy with serious power? None of you! Christ, Id like to take a bat to some of you losers calling him a quitter or a *****. Not a single one of you who call him that would even know what it's like to step into that ring and fight someone desperate to kick your head in. You all disgust me.

Dude if he feels this way then he shouldn;t box at all....The fact is one unch can turn you into a vegetable not a bunch of punches like said in your post. No boxer wants to turn into Ali or be punch drunk like Frazier but they know what the circumstances are when they step into the ring and they accept them. Same as a NASCAR driver....You think they don;t know that driving at speeds of up to 180 mph are deadly and extremely dangerous...they don;t want to end up as part of the wall or in a 5 or 6 car pile up but it happens and they know they are siking their lives in there.....They don;t say after the race well I could have taken the inside route but I was afraid he would put me into the wall so I settled for second or third place.....It is not only the fact that he gave up but the manner in which he laughed it off afterwards....he could have just said the best man won and i am really disappointed right now I have no one to blame but myself and I don;t feel much like talking Max thank you and walked away or better yet just went back to his dressing room and said nothing.....If you don;t like the heat then don;t step in the kitchen my friend period end of story....it is not like he signed up for dancing lessons or to compete at Chess this is a blood sport.....Anyone who agrees with what was said by the TS is not accurate in being a true boxing fan....I don;t think fighters should get hurt or take unwarranted punishment but the kid had a ligit chance of beating the other guy it was like he didnt knock him down 2 or 3 times already.....You pick you self up hold on for dear life go back to your corner and regroup......I am not saying that Ortiz is a pu55y or he is afraid I am saying maybe he aint cut out for the big time and will always fold under pressure....LeftyComment

Man, i sparr with am and pro everyday, my first sparring i got punched by a heavyweight and i almost got knocked out. I give respect to ANY fighter who steps into the ring but Victor Ortiz was hyped to death as being the next Mexican american warrior.
And he quit because of a ****** strategy. If you call yourself a mexican warrior, you shouldn't quit. Margarito knew he was gonna get ****ed up by mosley, and you know what, he took his beating like a man and got dismantled by Mosley. I have a lil ounce of respect for him.
V Ortiz will know always be remembered as a guy who did quit, even if he becomes a great fighter. Get over it.Comment

I don't ever question these guys' heart in that respect. We can compare their heart to other boxers, but in general all of these guys have balls of steel.Comment

couldnt agree more
its harder to quit imo because to keep on fighting is the popular thing to do...To quit actually takes a lot of fortitude.Comment

That's the problem. Taking a beating like a man. Ortiz is a man for getting in the ring and trading punches with another man willingly. A lot of people, I'd say the majority, don't have what it takes to step in a boxing ring. He was badly hurt in the first round and fought back hard. He did quit, but I'd never even think about calling the guy a ***** or saying he has no heart.
