All this bull**** about the weight. Like I said Miguel can stay at welter and fight other welters.
if thats the case, pac needs to stop flirting with wws if hes not gonna come up fully

Like u said, it all depends on both camps negotiation for the crown. & as kenny blankenship pointed out, welterweight number of 147 pounds is the limit, not the required weight.
have u ever seen a catch weight fight for a title?

the limit for the org is 147.

a catchweight is an agreement between the fighters.

all the org cares about is that neither fighter go above 147.

chavez-whitaker was at a catchweight of 145. pernell's welterweight belt was still on the line.

Same thing about Cotto. He should just come out and say he doesn't want to fight a jr welter and move on.

In fact everyone should move on. Mosley wants the fight. The winner of Bradley-Campbell wants the fight. Valero wants the fight. Miguel should just junk the Pac fight and start negotiating with the other welters. That way everybody can just move on.

            yes.

catchweights are common when 2 fighters in 2 different weight classes fight.

for titles less so but it has happened.

they have the same structure size but Cotto is a slightly stockier guy, he generally carries more weight than Pacquiao, Pacquiao comes in at a much lower body fat.

Pacquiao was 148 against Hatton however, he weighed in for Oscar at 142, and fought at 148.

145 against marquez last year(fighting at super featherweight)
147 against diaz last year(fighting at lightweight)
148 against oscar last year(fighting at welterweight)
and i believe he was 142 against hatton (correct me if im wrong)

Plus, espn's tale of the tapes shows that they are the same height, with the same reach. Im sorry guys but that makes this an even fight at 147. For this to be a real fight, both fighters need to be at their best. And there is no reason for this fight to be @ 145 instead of 147.

Note: if someone could post the tale of the tapes for the 4 fights aabove that would be great
manny pacquiao was not 142 againt ricky hatton he was 148 i bellieve........
