147 against diaz last year(fighting at lightweight)
148 against oscar last year(fighting at welterweight)
and i believe he was 142 against hatton (correct me if im wrong)

Plus, espn's tale of the tapes shows that they are the same height, with the same reach. Im sorry guys but that makes this an even fight at 147. For this to be a real fight, both fighters need to be at their best. And there is no reason for this fight to be @ 145 instead of 147.

Note: if someone could post the tale of the tapes for the 4 fights aabove that would be great
So I guess Paul Williams should fight at Heavyweight since he as tall and has a bigger reach then some..... What a tool. Bad analysis my friend

Pacquiao was 148 against Hatton however, he weighed in for Oscar at 142, and fought at 148.
This is what i meant, Mangler...I was looking at the chart in this thread (i tried to copy it here,) comparing them. Same height, reach, But Cotto has a bigger frame, has a little more meat on him, but manny is solid muscle. Somebody mentioned Manny having bigger legs, so it evens out a bit more. Cotto is 28, Manny i think is 35 or 38 years old.

In fact everyone should move on. Mosley wants the fight. The winner of Bradley-Campbell wants the fight. Valero wants the fight. Miguel should just junk the Pac fight and start negotiating with the other welters. That way everybody can just move on.
Good point. I've said in the beginning I'm a little uncomfortable with this fight...not 'zactly sure why, but even though they are around the same size it seems to be being made.

Nobody is making the argument that this isn't a welterweight fight, or that anything above 140 is a welterweight fight. The argument is that it shouldn't be for a welterweight belt. If the welterweight LIMIT is 147 you shouldn't be able to challenge for someone's title belt if you are FORCING a cap on their weight that's below what the divisional requirements allow. If Pacquiao wants to weigh 141 or whatever he wants that's fine but don't try to call yourself a welterweight champ when you won't let the champion defend the belt at the weight classes limit of 147. If Pacquiao or anyone has the nerve to say he deserves the belt if he wins then let Cotto come in at 147. It's that simple. I mean even if Pacquiao was to eventually fight for the ring welter belt it would probably be at a catch weight. that's a joke. I don't have any problem with this fight or any catch weight fight in particular, just not for a belt which this fight will be for. I don't think any legit argument could be made otherwise. If the sanctioning body: wbc, wba, ibf... etc say our welterweight title fights have a limit of 147 pounds then a challenger shouldn't be able to force his opponent to defend at 143, 144, 145, or any weight below 147.

Your post says 147= the limit. That's what the limit should be for the title!!!!!!

Welterweight 147 lbs = the limit. NOT THE MINIMUM, NOT THE REQUIREMENT, BUT THE LIMIT.

I've been wondering about that too...seems a little fishy to me. At 1st i was thinking steriods, but i doubt Manny would do that, I don't know what anabolics are, but I'm assuming they help you gain mass w/o effecting your workrate. as long as you keep working out a lot. Are they legal? He's seemed to reach a higher overall level in a pretty short time period...hence my agreeing they are around the same size.

                  Respect.
