They can fight at 144 or 145 lbs and still fight for the belt as it falls in the defined minimum to maximum for the welterweight division.

Some of you guys need to get that through your heads.

Cotto's the much bigger guy weight wise when coming into the ring. If he can't fight effectively by weighing in at 144 or 145 lbs (which by the way falls in the welterweight category) he shouldn't take the fight.

And if Pac beats him he will hold a legitimate welterweight crown as the fight was contested WITHIN the recognized welterweight division's weight class (anywhere between 141 - 147 lbs)

thank you, thank you, thank you. Ive posted this several times & they still dont get it.

Welterweight 147 lbs = the limit. NOT THE MINIMUM, NOT THE REQUIREMENT, BUT THE LIMIT.

thats up to the party negotiating. not the rules. 147 welterweight titles can be fought for under 147lbs. U dont think the Pacquiao camp would ask for it? they hold all the cards. miguel plays hardball they will give shane a call.

You don't think so? Mosley has agreed to go down in weight, take a smaller percentage of the purse, went on a media blitz to get a Pac fight, did just about anything and everything to get a fight. And you don't think he'll agree to put his title on the line if it happens?

I agree Pac should just change his mind and fight Mosley. Both have no problems meeting at a catchweights. Only Cotto seems to have that problem. So Pac vs. Mosley make it happen. Or Pac vs. Bradley-Campbell winner. ANy other fights that fight fans won't ***** about.

MIguel can stay his ass at 147 and fight the other welters. PWill is calling him out.

              i dont think so brah.

shane has stated numerous times publicly that he will fight pacquiao @ 144 & will stake his wba crown as well. im pretty sure cotto getting his biggest fight in his life vs his most popular & decorated opponent will stake his wbo crown as well.

shane has already stated on live tv that he wants the fight at 147....... i personally doubt that shane will put his title on the line at 143....... if shane is defending his title, he gonna want to weigh in at 147

LOL. Where have you been? Mosley has repeatedly stated he'll go down in weight to make that fight happen.

All this bull**** about the weight. Like I said Miguel can stay at welter and fight other welters.

u do follow boxing right? where have u been for the last month? just look at boxingscene archives, shane has publicly stated that he wants to fight pacquiao at 144, 60/40 split, for his wba welterweight crown, & rematch clause included to pacquiao. Like u said, it all depends on both camps negotiation for the crown. & as kenny blankenship pointed out, welterweight number of 147 pounds is the limit, not the required weight.
