I don't think Joe could make $10million a fight. I hope he stays retired, was bored of watching him in the past and sure don't wanna watch him after a 8month lay off.

But even a way out of prime Calzaghe would struggle to lose against Tarver, Johnson, Taylor and the like.
I couldnt believe how slow he looked against Hopkins. He looked real sloppy but that was expected given his style and fighting Hopkins, but I thought his speed was gone in that fight. It might just have been going up in weight cos he looked faster against Jones, but u cant read anything into that fight.
If Froch unifies SMW and is willing to step up to LHW (lets face it he's had 1000s of wet dreams about fighting Joe, he'd do it no problem) that could make big money in the UK, not £10M, but big enough to be tempting.

          Funny you should say that.

He had the opportunity to move to the states and face the best Prime v Prime then. Funny how he made little to no effort then in negotiating, but once Old man Hopkins and Roy "3 losses in a row" Jones were going to retire, he flew over ASAP.

he chose to wait till 2007 to face his first decent opposition: Kessler.

Don't make excuses for him mate, he wasted his talent. Accept it.

Calzaghe has no legitimate opponents. Plus I wouldn't give anybody huge respect for beating Calzaghe now. He has looked terrible in his last two fights, and is quite clearly, well past his prime.
Yeah but I bet you give that tomato can fighting bum all the credit in the world for beating those last two fossils he fought. Joke Claslappy is a boxing disease.

Joe's had 8 month lay-offs due to injury (I'm guessing, dont know for sure but I think he's bound to). I'd love it if he fought Dawson and Froch. He wouldnt get much credit, but as a fan I'd like to see it. He might get £10M between the 2 if promoted right (in other words let a real promoter do it, not yourself)

The difference is in 2007 Hopkins was desperate to fight Joe. When Hopkins was at the top, he had no interest in fighting Joe at all. Why would Hopkins want to fight a dangerous, unknown, European belt holder, for less money than he would fighting, a less dangerous, welterweight, for mega-bucks?

I give him no credit for beating a shadow of Jones, just like I would give Dawson little credit for beating Calzaghe.

What opportunity was that then, offered a deal was he, or did he turn something down, not chase? He did chase a bit and call out. The only deal he did have with one of those two....why was Calzaghe more than happy to go ahead with fighting Hopkins in 2002 yet Hopkins pulled out last minute?

Makes your comment look a tad silly.

                    NO. NO. NO.

Joe wants £10 million UK POUNDS.

                    NOT

                    10 Million US Dollars

In current exchange that is about $17 million.

Jeeez. Even BPP who posted the article misunderstood.

                    LMFAO.

PLEASE CHANGE TO SAY JOE WANTS $17 MILLION TO RETURN.

What this guy said, dear dear, school boy error. This does remind me of Lennox Lewis's I'll fight again for 100 mill $'s quote awhile ago.

So if he didn't KO anyone, how do you know his power just disappeared? You do realize most world class fighters KO the first 20 or so opponents they meet usually, right? Calzaghe has always had decent to solid pop but nothing greater than that.
