Nah he didn't have sick power, but I do think he showed some pop very early in his career when he wasn't taking care of his hands. I can't be bothered to dig some vid's right now I may later. But he does possess the power and had a very high KO record very early on, shame his hands got so fucked.

Back to the specific article, he's not just come out with this statement - you can tell he's probably just attended some public event or charity/sport do and been asked the Q, and it's a typical answer almost.

If he really was considering it he'd entertain things more, be coming out with more quotes. Slightly predictable really, nothing of much weight.

Veit in 01, and R1. Woodhall in 2000.

Like I say, decent enough opponents whom don't get KO'd left right and centre, bottom line is you have to demonstrate some power to knock them around and KO them, esp when few others did.

The guy was criticising Calzaghe for being way past prime and his hands being pretty damaged post 2003 and losing a lot of speed and power. That's not a radical thing to say and you'd think it would be up your alley dude...
      wtf? who?

      Viet? Woodhall?

      MCINTYRE?

      Are you actually serious?

Not to mention i dont think he has received alot of cash due to Frank Warren not paying him.
Hilarious, Warren got him an engineered career of padding his record and facing passed it boxers. Joe should have known how dodgy Warren was

He got over 8M against Hopkins and Jones each.
The live fee is worth more than 15M $ (i am sure now he could easily sell over 70K tickets in Cardiff.
Joe isn't a nobody like Mayweather.

Joe will be remembered not for his punching power. But for this movement, ring savy, intelligence, ability to adjust where others freeze/are clueless. His stamina- a fighter who can do 12 rounds and still maintain the workrate. Beautiful handspeed.

Overall, a beautiful beautiful boxer. Give him £10 million Pounds and lets get Dawson.

Every world class fighter who has any sort of pop has a very high KO record early on. Every last one. Of course they do, they are all being spoon fed. Fernando Vargas KO'ed his first 17 opponents, I believe. Hell, even Pernell Whitaker KO'ed six of his first seven opponents and he began taking on elite fighters in his 12th pro bout. It's not proof of some serious power. I'm surprised this is lost on folks - then again, I have never heard anyone argue that someone "lost" their power and use non-descript, early opposition as proof. If that's the case so did 99% of other top fighters.

As for the article, I think that's just Joe's way of saying, "I'm retired." Would he come back for that amount? Hell yeah. But the money is not out there and neither is he.

Well if he can get down to 142 then i'm sure Team Pacquiao will get the contracts ready.

Joe won't come back. In the article he says it's a joke and that nobody will come up with 10 million £ anyway.

That's good. Stay retired Joe. You've earned it and you've got nothing left to prove.
