He's retired. Some of you yanks need to get over it!
I'm glad he's said this. He was on the slide even before Kessler. And if he doesn't have the motivation any more then he has no business in the ring. It's just rare for a boxer to know that and admit that!Comment

He got £3,000,000 against Jones which then was around 4.1 million (given the exchange rate; £1 = $1.36). Today if that fight happened £3,000,000 would be $4,900,000; £1 = $1.61).His most was against RJJ i think, which was around $3m?
Which was probably cut down to a fraction of that.
Not to mention i dont think he has received alot of cash due to Frank Warren not paying him.
Hilarious, Warren got him an engineered career of padding his record and facing passed it boxers. Joe should have known how dodgy Warren was
Also given that Warren wasn't the promoter for the fight nor his manager he would have retained an extra 20% of that money at the minimum.
Usually, when a fighter gets his purse, he pays his taxes, promoters, trainers, cutsmen and managers. He's lucky to walk away with 30%.Comment

Who on earth would give Calzaghe credit for fighting Froch? He wouldn't even make his top 10 opponents.
And as nobody gave him credit for fighting Hopkins two years ago, who's going to give him credit now?
He's done. He's done what he wanted to do (not the neverending search for greatness that some people seem to think boxers should strive for, but the aim of being the best in his division and the one above plus built a comfortable life for him and future generations) and unless someone offers silly money then that won't change. I would say I can't understand the hate but then some people just REALLY need to get laid.Comment
