Clottey is a great actor! And the writer of this article is talking ****. Clottey got owned by a one-eyed Cotto. If Cotto had full vision then it would have been like watching round 6 over and over again where Clottey was getting dominated. Like I say, We mustn't forget that the one-eyed Cotto couldn't see for most of the fight. And despite some expected reports of a 'gift decision', Cotto was able to emerge the close winner in what was a close fight. ESPN scored it 116-111 for Miguel Cotto. Fighthype.com scored 115-112 for Cotto. The Associated Press scored it 116-111 for Cotto. Ultimately, it was the championship rounds which made the difference where Cotto outboxed Clottey.

T.K. Stewart? T.K. must stand for Total Krackhead. Go back and look at the 4th & 10th rounds closely. Hint: Clottey didn't win the 4th or lose the tenth.
ROUND 6: Clottey was backed into his own corner, taking punches for most of the last 2 minutes of the round (from 1:48 to 0:11 to be exact). This was after the "body slam".
Also look at the punch count after 6 rounds and then look at it after round 10. Clottey utterly dominated rounds 7 through 10 and built over 90% of his punch count advantage in those rounds. But even after owning Cotto through those, that's just 4 points for Joshua. This ain't olympic scoring! I wrote this last night after watching the fight for the second time:
ROUNDS 1-4:
Through the first 4 rounds they had about the same amount of power punches (Clottey had 1 more) and, undeniably, Clottey won the most part of rounds 1 & 2 while Cotto won 3 & 4. The difference? The knockdown. Clottey had slightly more connects but the big difference in the stat was round 1, which was completely erased from Clottey's column by the knock down.
Cotto 39-Clottey 36
ROUNDS 5-8:
Cotto started the 5th very concerned about the bleeding left eye and Clottey took advantage. Clottey obviously doesn't respond well while cornered so when Cotto did get him in the red corner with the quick juke Clottey tried to headlock him and got on his shoulders. I'm just sad that Cotto didn't slam him harder. Go to round 6. Clottey was backed into his own corner for most of the last 2 minutes of the round (from 1:48 to 0:11). I could very well see a judge giving Cotto the round 10-8 since he landed as many power punches in this frame as he did in the first 3 altogether. Clottey did fight back in the end to avoid a clear 10-8 round for Cotto. Clottey completely dominated rounds 7 & 8. Cotto was obviously bothered by the left eye again, unable to see Clottey's right punches coming. Clottey connected 23 power punches in round 8 compared to Cotto's 10.
Clottey 39-Cotto 37
ROUNDS 9-12:
Rounds 9 & 10 were a repeat of 7 & 8. In the championship rounds Cotto didn't change the offense much but blocked most of Clottey's power shots while getting in with his (19-19 punch-count). Cotto just danced and stung with a few good uppercuts in #12 while Clottey forgot to throw. Clottey's horrible acting trying to get the ref to take a point off Cotto not once but twice, tells me he was worried about the cards, especially since he couldn't find Cotto at the end.
Cotto 38-Clottey 38
6 rounds a piece. Cotto 114-113 ('cause of the knockdown), just like Lederman had it.
A couple of things:
1. Whoever gave this fight to Cotto 116-111 should never, ever judge again. EVER!
2. Cotto gets props for not bitching about stopping the fight right after the 4th when he had a really good chance of getting away with a deep cut, a short night and a win.
3. Don't be fooled by Clottey's utter dominance in rounds 7 through 10. These 4 rounds accounted for over 90% of the huge lead for Clottey on the punch count. The fight had 8 more rounds of which Cotto won 6 and during one of those Clottey got put on his ass.
I respect your opinion if you think that Clottey won, but you can't say that there's no way Cotto didn't win it or that he was given a gift.

Cotto won, but admit it, he absolutely does not look as good (nh) as he used to be.
I agree Cotto won. He did not look spectacular like many expected. Everyone knew Clottey was going to be a tough fight regardless. That nasty ass cut certainly did not help him either. That is not a good fight to use as a barometer to say Cotto has faded. It was a tough fight that he gutted out.
