Cleaner, harder punching. Did you think Clottey won the 5th too? You know, the one where he was backed against his corner for the better part of 2 minutes.

BTW, I'm not picking on you. It's just too easy to pass up.

Why not? He's the most biased poster in this thread.

That was the 6th of where that happened. Cotto gassed after that though and had nothing left for the rest of the fight. Even though he won the last round he was still exhausted.

I will give Cotto his due, he's a world champ and didn't quit like last time. Still not in the same class as Floyd though
I completely agree with you on the bold. Of course Cotto is not on the same class as Floyd. He's on a whole different one, the one with boxers that actually fight opponents in their own weight class and don't make them jump in weight to face him, but that's a different subject. And yes, Cotto had the bigger heart because he could've chosen to stop the fight after the end of rd.4 and would've won on the cards, but he's not a would've/should've/could've carrer guy like your man Floyd.

            • I can't say it was a flat out robbery but I don't think that Cotto did enough to win. He was clearly going backward the entire fight and Clottey landed the much cleaner, harder punches.

Even when Cotto had him in the corner, he wasn't hurting Clottey. I just think Cotto doesn't do well with aggressive fighters that put pressure on him. The problem with Clottey is he isn't active enough and we all knew this going into the fight.

That's why I believe Margarito beats Cotto over and over again because Marg is the same as Clottey but a harder puncher and doesn't stop working.

I had Clottey winning a close fight only because he ttok a few rounds off but he was clearly had Cotto retreating the whole fight. I don't understand why he stopped throwing jabs from the outside and the uppercut which I see Cotto is still very susceptible to because of the "V" shaped defense he holds his hands and arms with.

Watch out!! You're going to get called a hater or a Margarito nuthugger for this.

Whatever, I actually like Cotto but I saw something I saw against Marg and that's he doesn't fight well going backwards. He is at his best when he's the bully, not when he's getting bullied.

Clottey is ****** though, if he just keeps throwing punches, he wins easily even with the knockdown. The knockdown was bizarre because Clottey usually has great balance, which atributes to his great chin but he was caught flat footed and that pushed him down.

What I was the most shocked at was how even early on, Clottey was out boxing Cotto from the outside....very weird.

Good fight but again, I just don't think Cotto did enough to win.

You people need some advise about boxing and some general rules. Let's talk about championship fights; when you're the challenger you have to win convincingly, it is important to win what they call championships rounds and those are the last two, Cotto won both. Also they see if any of the two fighters hits the canvas, that was Clottey. You have to score the fight round by round, and I don't know which fight was watching this writer, and if he actually knows anything about boxing. It doesn't matter who landed more punches through out the whole fights, but who wins more rounds, I had 6 rounds for each fighter. I had the fight 114-113 Cotto. Even if Clottey let's say won 7 rounds, he can't get the fight in that way period. Like it or not, the judges also saw a fighter with a big cut in the eye who could it said, ok I done, I can't see so let's stop the fight and I win cause I'm ahead in the scorecards. Instead, he decides to fight like that. Judges goes beyond your thoughts, come on people, don't you guys see it. Cotto without that cut would it gives a show beating Clottey in a fashion way.
