duran is light years ahead of pac in terms of legacy and achievements i dont think its fair to compare these two

personality wise duran was a bad ass would intimidate and distespect his opponants. pac is just a nice guy

there styles are also verry different i dont like this comparison at all.

how so? duran would work the head and body.. he used his jab, right, hooks, uppercuts, overhand rights.. everything. Pacquiao in the last 3 fights barely learned how to throw that devistating right hook he landed on Hatton.. he for the most part hasn't been much of a body puncher either. haven't seen many uppercuts from Pacquiao until recently either.

I'll give you footwork because Duran would pretty much walk your ass down, he knew how to cut that ring off though.

Going a step further Duran had killer combinations that leave the audiance and the boxer infront of him in complete awe.

Duran is one of a kind.. & as much of a great fighter that Pacquiao is, he is NO Duran.
Duran had more technical skill in his game then Pacquiao, was more versatile and had a larger arsenal of punches.

The 1st time I saw Pac against Barrera, I was in awe just after the 3rd rd. It brings back the memories of Duran, SRL & Hearns. But I never even thought he has the carbon copy of Duran. My first thought was

This guy has Duran's ferociousness, SRL's speed & Flash & Hearns one Punch KO Power

.

Then I researched ARmstrong & SRR & found out they're not like Pac either. I guess Pac is one of kind style of fighter. Maybe in the future we will find some youngster who fights like Pac.

the fighting style is very different though...

MP is faster but duran is way more slicker & technical...

How come these two have never been compared. I swear, Pacquiao looks just like Duran "style wise" when fighting. Besides the fact that Duran is orthodox and Pacquiao is southpaw. They fight eerily similar. They both have that hop that they do, they both throw punches kinda the same. Its odd, watch Roberto Duran at lightweight and then watch Pacquiao-JMM or something recent not back when he was 16. They fight the same but with different stances. Watch Duran fight but with the intent to compare him to Pacquiao, its a way better comparison than Pacquiao-Armstrong, in my opinion.

I bring it up because I dont think the comparison has ever been made even thoughI think its the best comparison with Pacquiao to a retired atg.

Huh? They're not even slightly similar in their fighting styles. Not at all. Duran fights an entirely different fight to Pac, and the only thing you could compare about them might be their aggressiveness, will to win and intensity. Now do they throw punches the same. They actually punch very differently.

Duran is more of a counter puncher and fights on the inside with great defense, whereas Pac is an outside fighter that rarely counters and doesn't fight on the inside at all. Duran had a great straight right, but it was often as a counter punch and apart from that he was a huge body puncher and threw a lot of hooks inside. They're just vastly different.
