Cotto is shorter and has shorter arms than Floyd also but who is clearly bigger? That means nothing. I have a ton of Duran fights and even at 154 dude was big and super strong. Stop trying to play him like he's a small guy. No way a small guy beats SRL. He was always a naturaly bigger guy. Off the top of my head right now I cant e even think of a single 154 pounder right now who is bigger then he was. Stop talking about height and reach like that is the most important. The most important thing is natural weight and Duran had it.
Duran was a big and strong guy, but he just scaled well. He was never big for his weight class.

Trust me, Im not making him out to be this huge monster. Im just saying that he was a very comfortable fighter at pretty much all the weights he went to. He was pretty true in size at all the weights he went to, atleast until he got up very high. He wasnt undersized in any way. He was a very hefty built, solid rock even at 154. Im sure he came into the ring easily at over 160 pounds for those fights while still being super fast, strong, and basically looking exactly like a JrMW. He looks clearly bigger than Spinks, Lattimore, Martinez, Shane, and so on

Yeeeeeah, and have you ever seen any of his LW fights? He was neither taller or bigger than his opponents. Until he got past thirty and got fat, he was thin and small. He always had a small frame, but he was fat as hell and kept getting fatter. He was never big. If Mayeather put on a stack of weight, he would be way bigger than Duran as well. Trying looking at their fights when he was all through his twenties.

Look mate, go have a look at Erik Morales. Was he huge? No, he wasn't was he? Ok then, go look at him now. He's huge now! If he moved up to WW that is the same thing as if Duran had moved up like that.

No matter what you think, name one fighter today at MW that is only 5 6"? They're all over six foot! They were all that size when Duran was fighting them as well.

Man, what are you looking at? He looks overweight, slow, and it looks as though that weight that he is carrying is well and truly too much. It stops everything he used to do well at the lower weights he was at.

It would be like Mayweather moving up to MW. He would still be great but he would obviously be too small for it.

What about Toney? Does he suit cruiserweight or heavyweight? Of course he doesn't! He's small and fat but his skills enable him to still fight well. Same thing. Even more so in Duran's case. The simple fact is he was never a big LW, at all, in any way. He was bigger framed than any of his opponents nor was he taller with a longer reach.

I realise you are talking about his general size but he wasn't bigger in any way shape or form than anyone after LW. Try watching his fights. Go watch his fight with Buchanan. Explain how he is bigger than him?

Edit: For that bold section, that is plain rubbish. His first few fights at that weight, he was so slow and off balance because of the weight he had he looked like a damn fool. You've obviously only seen some of his fights where he trained so much that he was able to overcome that, as any fighter would. The fact is though that he was absolutely shocking at those weights compared to what he should have been like.

            Duran at 147:

            At 160:

He was hardly a big lightweight.
