    Pacquiao and Roberto Duran.

How come these two have never been compared. I swear, Pacquiao looks just like Duran "style wise" when fighting. Besides the fact that Duran is orthodox and Pacquiao is southpaw. They fight eerily similar. They both have that hop that they do, they both throw punches kinda the same. Its odd, watch Roberto Duran at lightweight and then watch Pacquiao-JMM or something recent not back when he was 16. They fight the same but with different stances. Watch Duran fight but with the intent to compare him to Pacquiao, its a way better comparison than Pacquiao-Armstrong, in my opinion.

I bring it up because I dont think the comparison has ever been made even thoughI think its the best comparison with Pacquiao to a retired atg.

there biggest similarity is their popularity in their native country. duran was huge in panama. gave back to the poor a lot, etc.

I never seen that video, its pretty interesting.

I agree that they both give back to their communities though but I meant in the ring. They are both so similar, its like Pacquiao was built out of the roberto duran mold.

Probably because Duran had that macho thing going on that Pacquiao simply doesnt have. Just looking at him outside of the ring you'd think he wouldnt be able to hurt a fly.

Well you right about one thing, I have never heard that comparison. Interesting thought though, originality points for sure.

Pac does remind me of Duran at his best sometimes.
But i think its not style, its their intensity in the ring. They are both born fighters, both very aggressive yet skillful. Both very fast, and have been wild at times.

But i dont think their styles are similar. Their punching techniques and defensive styles are very different. Duran had lots of head movement, and countered brilliantly. He went to the body often with hooks and uppercuts. He was an inside fighter.
Pac rarely goes to the body, and uses straight punches from range.

Its that beard that does it.

Pacquiao doesn't remind me of Duran. At all.

Pacquiao is a speedy southpaw who fights in a "darting" (in and out) fashion.

Duran was a slower, conventional fighter who fought in a toe-to-toe, "break your will" style.
