MMA legend giving respect to boxing.

This is a boxing forum in a boxing thread, so I'd suspect alot of biasism and hatred for MMA.
But if you think logically, boxing is more of a stripped down form of fighting, when compared to MMA. Not that that its a bad thing, but its more of a sport, whereas MMA is closer to fighting, such as striking, choking, kicking, etc.Comment

That is really the funniest thing I have ever heard in my life. Yeah the business of boxing is just money falling from the sky. You live up to your name Mayweather Jr. You have a completely warped perception of the real world and economics. For every trainer and gym making millions off of a marquee fighter there are dozens if not hundreds of gyms that are struggling to survive. MMA brings thousands of dues paying members into boxing gyms every year. That is good for the sport. Were it not for MMA there would be far fewer boxing gyms in the world able to stay afloat and far fewer people would be able to learn the art of boxing.Comment

Rogan stated several times that he loves Boxing, but the business of Boxing is what's hurting it (which isn't a far stretch IMO).Comment

I think what he's saying is that a lot of MMA schools have opened and they all have Boxing trainers. Some Boxing gyms now have MMA training in them as well (call it being cost efficient and bringing in more clients maybe?)Comment

But he repreadly says its "Boring" and "One dimensional"
That guy is the biggest hipocrit, I bet he'd one of those UFC fans that only started liking it in 2007 and says "IVE BEEN A FAN SINCE THE 90'S!!!!"Comment

I think some of boxing's big punchers with fast hands could do well providing they made a professional switch to MMA and took it seriously, making the technical changes needed, and giving themselves the time to let in sink in to their way of fighting. Mercer is just a really ****ty example.Comment

First off a MMA guy would not do very well in a boxing match without extensive training and a boxer would not do well in an MMA match without extensive training. Any argument otherwise is short sided. I have boxed for 11 years and can tell you first hand that you can't cross over without learning a lot of new things. The main problem I have with watching most MMA fights is how poor the stand-up game is developed compared to the ground/submission game. Even Rogan himself commented in the last UFC match that the striking in MMA is quite a ways behind Boxing/K-1. For example look at that Machida fellow; he is exposing the stand-up game of a lot of fighters. Eventually it will progress and get better but it's hard to be good at everything especially when you have to worry about guys snapping your arm off...Comment
