To date there are 3 indisputable facts.
    1. You become a lot bigger in boxing than you can with MMA. MMA will never produce heroes such as Ali, Duran, etc. Guys that moved entire nations.
    2. Boxing at it's biggest absolutely TRUMPS mma at it's biggest. Biggest fight in mma right now would be gsp-silva, and if you think that fight does anywhere near what boxing's biggest PPVs have done, well your outta your mind.
    3. boxing at it's best is far far far more entertaining than mma at its best. (show me mma's version of barrera-morales). it's the nature of the sport, mma can't possibly give you 12 rounds of toe to toe action at a world class level. If your into 1 punch ko's keep watching mma, but you wont be seeing any of that stuff on espn classic anytime soon.

Even Joe Rogan admitted that the striking in MMA doesn't compare to boxing/kickboxing.

Boxing does work in MMA, proper punching technique always tops throwing wild haymakers in any situation, but the stance should obviously be modified to fit MMA standards. If you can't defend kicks, takedowns and submissions, your striking is useless in MMA.

BJ Penn is effective at using the jab as a weapon to keep wrestlers off of him, boxer Jeremy Williams was a decent MMA fighter due to his Judo background, former pro boxer Marcus Davis is a solid contender in the WW division...

I personally believe that Kermit Cintron could be a good MMA fighter since he has a wrestling background and has the advantage over most strikers in MMA with his boxing. If boxing doesn't work out for him, he always has that option.

I also rarely hear any fighters, in boxing or MMA, disrespecting the other sport. It's usually just the fans or the promoters.

Limited how? Because you can only use your fists? That's the point. That's like saying mma is limited while your calling an NFL game.

Everyone says a boxer would get owned in MMA, wheres the proof?? Not every fight ends on the ground, many stay on the feet till a KNOCKout son
lol, he was fighting a 35 year old fighter. and once again, he was fighting a "street fighter" who had almost ZERO mma skills and he still got his ass handed to him in record time.

I don't think you quite get it, yes mma fighters use striking but ONLY if the striking causes a mismatch. If the fighter in front of them is a better striker, then they go for the submissions. No mma fighter would dare trade punches with a boxer. they would take him down and either ground and pound him for a tko or submit him.

both sports are great in their own right. no need to be hating.

That seems quite rational.

I think some of boxing's big punchers with fast hands could do well providing they made a professional switch to MMA and took it seriously, making the technical changes needed, and giving themselves the time to let in sink in to their way of fighting. Mercer is just a really ****ty example.
how is that rational? mma fighters know how to box while boxers do not know how to kick or fight on the ground. Anderson Silva would be able to handle himself in boxing while manny pacquiao would get owned by any fighter that even has half a skill in submissions.
