its because fighters who dont pretend to have any defence just sit there and absorb the shock into their neck and jaw.
fighters that try to constantly avoid the shots with head movement will eventually get caught, and it makes their head snap around more because theyre not ready to tense up before the shot lands because theyre focusing on their defence too much. the head snapping around makes the brain get flung around, which = brain damage.
fighters like Chuvalo simply took it, and although their bodies got beat up their head didnt really get flung around, because they tensed for the shot and absorbed the power into their neck.
certain other fighters like Duran were able to slightly turn their head with the punches...and if their head is going in the same direction as the point of impact in the first place, you wouldnt expect their head to snap that badly, would you?Comment
