For having such a violent, agressive style, Mexican fights don't show too much...

weight doesnt matter as much as some people think, although it obviously cant be ignored either.

and Toney was off balance from the jab, and not hurt in the least. Toney took all of Peter's hardest shots in the first fight, and was only momentarily shaken.
not nearly as hurt as when he got knocked down by Reggie Johnson
Yeah but Toney never seemed punchy to me until after the Peter fights.

It has nothing to do with race, plenty of Mexicans are punchy or punch drunk.

      Bobby Chacon
      Fernando Vargas
      Bazooka Limon
      Lupe Pintor
      Gabe Ruelas
Israel Vasquez - He's already sounding punchy.

I also think it has a lot to do with how you treat your body outside of the ring/Genetics, how much punishment you take in sparring/when you decide to hang them up.

Well there's exception to the rule but most of the fighters you named don't sound THAT bad....most.

I do agree, you would think some Mexican fighters would be more punch drunk with thier style of fighting. Someone like JCC with over 100 fights and the shots he took should be like that but he's not. He's drunk all the time but he's not punch drunk.....haha

Being punchy is being punchy, the guys I named are either punchy as *** or showing some serious signs of Pugilistic dementia. I think the Chavez example is fine but there are plenty of fighters like Hagler,Lamotta,Foreman,Arguello,Chuvalo,Archie Moore who were in some serious wars and talk/talked perfectly clear.

Also Chavez had underrated defense, he slipped a lot of punches when in his prime and he didn't start fighting serious fighters until well into 40 fights.
