What? Guzman is like a more aggressive form of Mayweather but with less technique.

Nope, sorry. Both the fights had some bull**** happen. With Arhur there was the VISA issue then Frank Warren postponed the fight, not giving a guzman a time frame, which led to Guzman challenging Nate Campbell instead.

With Katsidis he broke his hand and they never were able to reschedule.

Further, he had a verbal agreement to fight Pacquiao in Canada right after Soto, then Bob Arum decided against it.

It's not like Arthur and Katsidis would have beat him, those were easy ass fights for Guzman. The pacquiao fight would have been his big payday, but obviously arum didn't like it for whatever reasons.

His biggest mistake was not making weight against Campbell, and he paid the price big time for it. Not making weight unfortunately happens in boxing from time to time, Guzman isn't the only one (although on this site he's treated like he is). And, if you've followed Guzman's career you know that early on he was getting f ucked big time by his managers and had a series of unfortunate things to occur. Things started to get better with new management recently, and he fucked that up not making weight but even after that, he had a title fight set up which would have occured last month, all sides agree to fight then the IBF steps in and says, nope sorry, we're going to honor the Oklahoma suspension so that fight got scratched as well.

As I said, pretty bad luck.
      I stand by my statement.

and he paid the price big time?

      How?

      By getting a title shot?

Bradley has good footwork, I think Guzman is making a mistake fighting Bradley. I have Bradley winning this by decision. Guzman really should have tried to get Juan Diaz. Thank god someone is going to take that 0 away from Guzman he is boring, but Bradley definitely can win this fight. Pot-shotting and running isn't going to work against a guy who has just as good as foot-work.

Let's assume for a second that Arum does in fact have co-promotional rights with Sycaun. Because if he doesnt, then this fight is even less likely. I have heard from several sources that he did do the co-pro deal, but obviously I wasnt in the room so I dont know that 100%

Problem #1. Bradley's first obligation is to the Interim Champion Lamont Peterson. Arum would have to allow Peterson to be stepped over in order for Bradley to fight anyone else.

Problem #2. Voluntary defenses must take place against someone ranked in the top 15 in the division. Guzman is not ranked at all at 140, and is only ranked #11 by the WBO at 135. Since Guzman has never fought heavier than lightweight, and holds no title, there is no basis for even ranking him at 140 pounds.

Bonus Problem: Just because Guzman's manager accepted the fight, I cant see Arum giving Shaw options on Guzman. Makes no sense........

IF, and that's still a big if, he gets a shot at Bradley, that isn't anything like what he missed out on by not fighting Campbell. Looking back, if Guzman were to have fought and won, he would have been the unified champ at 135. He would have had quite a few options from there and much much closer to setting up a big payday fight that he's been looking for. IF he fights and beats Bradley, it still means little and doesn't necessarily mean it will set up a big fight.

So yeah, I'd say he paid the price big time for his mistake.

The way the boxing game is being played out right now, there's really no point in being with a small time promotional firm. If these guys want big money fights they either have to be with top rank or golden boy.
