Not making weight does happen in boxing, this is however rare in a championship fight and I believe thats not why people rip on Guzman these days. Guzman was medically cleared to fight Campbell, the fight was to take place with none of the belts on the line. Shortly after Guzman's people announced he was to pull out, because he felt drained. After all the trash talking between him and Campbell that was at least anticlimactic and at most one of the biggest disappointments in boxing last year. That's why people treat him the way they do these days.

There have been mixed reports on what exactly occurred the day of the fight. Some say doctors advised him not to continue, that guzman was coughing up blood, etc. None of that matters now though, it was a big mistake on his part, he's admitted to it and suffered the consequences as a result. Further, there have been quite a few people not making weight on a championship level - nate campbell being a recent example (although he still fought), btoh Diego Corrales and Castillo, etc.

Furthermore I agree with the IBF not letting Guzman fight for the title and Ive been a sanctioning body sceptic since I joined this board.

I don't because the suspension was to end by the time the fight would have taken place, so it was silly.

Ive got Bradley on this one btw, he's bigger and likely stronger but Im see him having trouble seeing as Guzman is a skilled fighter

Yeah, if he beats him, Guzman can start smelling the top 10 P4P. I'm hoping Hatton says his to himself "Since Pacquiao already beat me, I want the #1 spot back and this feather fisted dude is food. I'll beat him like Malinaggi." 140 is his max though and Bradley is brolic, but he's a small 140 and he still got some unfinished business at 135 plus it's more loaded.

Joan Guzman should be too much for bradley. Bradly has a amatuerish style, He's fast but makes many mistakes, Holt should have stopped him (and i give credit to Holt for not making excuses - huge legal problem over his head right before the fight) But guzman can counter, lead, he has exceptional footwork, decent power, good chin, and exceptional speed/quickness. hell he used to be trained by the self proclaimed greatest trainer ever (Floyd snr) At 140 he only one beating Guzman is Pac, zab possibly (he still has speed and is a very hard puncher, nate Campbell (experience - like to call him lil hopkins) But honestly Nate deserves the fight with bradley point blank!!

Trekas (Nate's manager) said it himself, Nate was offered this fight and they turned it down because Gary Shaw wanted options that they weren't willing to give up. Guzman must have gave in to that with good reason.

So he really did sign the co-promotion deal with Top Rank? I remember Doug Fischer saying he might and if he did he was gonna take 2 tuneups on a couple undercards in his mailbag, but there hasn't been anything out after that.

Joan Guzman is a step up (In my opinion) I know he beat Edner, Witter and Holt, but style wise, Guzman is a bigger problem then those 3. Guzman also shows up at 147 and still has his great foot/ hand speed

Anybody know if Guzman actually declined a fight with Zab Judah and the reason why? This fight was suppose to take place on the Mayweather vs Marquez undercard. This was reported on ESPN.

So Guzman-Diaz is off the Mayweather-Marquez undercard huh? Good riddance. Nothing against Diaz but Guzman is as exciting as watching paint dry.
