Williams gets KTFO at 160 against Abraham or Pavlik especially Pavlik! Hell i'm not even convinced Williams can beat Cotto at 147 because i believe Cotto would fight him inside and Williams would have trouble creating space for his jab!

[QUOTE]Originally posted by Ravishing View PostI sort of feel bad for Paul Williams. He's a good fighter, but he just doesn't have that extra something that puts fighters over the top and brings in crowds. He got passed Winky Wright, but you could hear crickets in the crowd which is a big sign for matchmakers on how much that fighter brings to the table.

In my opinion Paul Williams is definition of a virtuoso meaning he has the skillset to do things the average and even the not so average fighter can not.
He is in the same position Mayweather was in until 2005, NOBODY wants to fight him because he is too much risk with not half the reward in return.
And just like Mayweather he is going to have to force boxing to pay attention to him by putting boxing and it;s writers in a corner and making them have no choice but to rank him the #1 fighter in the sport or in the top 3.
Because Paul Williams doesnt not have the luxery of having a built in fan base like most latino fighters have. Paul Williams is not from a 3rd world country is which he is their national star to the world. So that means Paul Williams is going to have to take the hard road and Market his skillset just Mayweather,Roy Jones, Shane Mosely all had to do. And you can see he recognizes that now and he is willing to take the risk neccessary in order for him to put boxing into a corner and make the writers and the pundits rank him as #1 in the sport.
And he does that by proving people wrong.
He does that by beating people's favorite fighter.
he does that by fighting the fights that mean something.
meaning get the belts and get more belts and than move up and get more belts.
Floyd Mayweather proved no matter what People will pay to see the best fight even if you are a defensive fighter, if you are considered the best in the entire sport of boxing, you dont have to chase the money nomore the money will chase you.
Paul Williams IMO now, Just needs to start proving people wrong and in matter of time boxing will have no choice but to recognize him as the best in the sport for his body of work just like they had to do with Mayweather.
and fighting guys like Andre Ward, Carl froch, and kessler would go a long way in proving people wrong.
and fighting a guy like chad dawson would quickly rocket him to fame just because he would be fighting against all the odds... and if he wins this could be his deigo corrales fight which rocketd Mayweather into stardom.
I think you just want him to stay as far away from Floyd as possible.

Im really just starting to feel bad for the guy he cant seem to get anyone to fight him, but I dont know about him fighting at super middle. Those guys are big and strong and naturally walking around much heavier than Williams. I would make him a live dog or even match with most except Hopkins who simply beats the piss out of Williams and leaves him doubting his masculinity.

He didn't just get past Wright, he shellacked him. And I don't think you can blame Paul for the fight not being exciting. He went in and did his job in impressive fashion. This kid deserves to be a superstar, I just hope it doesn't change his currant attitude when when he is finally recognized as such.
