Mega event means that BOTH fighters transcend just boxing fans. They gott both be mainstream. And Miguel Cotto is not mainstream on the level that a Pac, Mayweather, Hopkins and a few other active fighters are.

Sure, any Pac fight nowadays is gonna get a lot of attention. But mega fight? I don't think so.

200,000 buys against Pavlik. I don't think so.

It was said the Cotto vs Margs fight did close to 500K w/o any 24/7, world media tours and stuff.

Where can you find the exact numbers?

Not sure I agree with that. Cotto is a star in the sport without a doubt. He's got all sorts of ethnicities following him. Juan Ma is just at the beginning of his career.

Plus, from what friends of mine have told me who visit PR frequently, Cotto seems to be THE dude along with Juan Ma, but they're treating Juan Ma more like the new kid on the block as Cotto is an already established dude

pac could sell out the garden by sitting in a chair, eating balut - the same way tyson could by masturbating

Put it in Yankee Stadium! The PR's and casual fans could easily sell it out.

But to stay on topic, I would bill Cotto vs Pac as a mega fight. The fight would sell itself much like Cotto vs Margs, only this time it'll be amped up by HBO.

Two elite world class fighters ready to ****. Both are prime and have a wide array of boxing skills. Neither shows a hint of one dimensional boxing skills.

One of them would be going to sleep that for sure. And honestly, to say Cotto isn't more well known than most of the boxers is quite ridiculous. He sells out arenas now, the Garden sells out when his name is mentioned. JuanMa isn't on his level yet, but he's getting there. The one thing really going for him is he's got a great smile and personality.

What did Oscar tell Floyd to build him up? To keep smiling baby and you'll get your chance. Cotto has the terminator aura about him, which for me is awesome, but hey people like a ''people's champ''. There was an interview awhile back that Cotto says he enjoys seeing people in pain from his punches. I was like this dude is sick but is going to be a Hall of Famer!
