Would You Consider Pac-Cotto a Mega Event

they can hold this **** at yankee stadium.
there's 60,000 filipino-americans in new york city. 30,000 in queens alone.
add to that all the other filipino-americans in the state of new york plus about 50,000 in new jersey.
with that plus the hundreds of thousands of puerto ricans in new york and new jersey. they can sell out yankee stadium.
I agree that it could come damn close to selling out Yankee Stadium though. Just the lore of it being at Yankee Stadium would bring people there. Even people who hadn't heard of either guy they'd be like "whoa there's a fight at Yankee Stadium, that **** must be a big deal".Comment

it might not be a mega event in america but it'd be a mega event in puerto rico and philippines.Comment

it did over a mill here so i guess that makes it a mega-event full stop?Comment

Quite simple answer: Yes.
Pac's profile is skyrocketing right now, and he'd be taking on an elite, prime, world-class, full-sized welterweight. Floyd has never done that.
But Cotto needs to get past Clottey first, and we need to see if the plaster ruined his career.Comment

It's not up to us to declare if it is a mega fight or not. It's the MEDIA's job. I believe that if PAC-HAtton was "sold" as a MEGA FIGHT, so could be PAC-Cotto. The problem is BOB ARUM, he doesn't run the extra mile to promote big fights. I hope PAC's hype is big enough to carry this fight over the edge. IF it happens, I would be traveling to see the fight LIVE!!!
Noooooooo. It IS up to us. Our dollars are the onlything that matters.
Go ask every promoter what they would consider a successful event:
1) Moderate media coverage/ Tremendous money generated
2) Tremendous media coverage / tremendous money generated
What do you think they would choose?Comment

And I think Shane or Cotto could be number 1. You could make a good case for either. I have Shane as #1 though. Rankings are all about "what have you done for me lately" type ****. Shane has the biggest recent win.Comment

Yea, problem with that is timing though. Fight would probably take place in November or December. That isn't gonna work.

nevermind. it would be great though if it could happen in spring or summer night.Comment

Coming back from a close defeat that could have gone either way to knockout Mayorga and destroy Margarito is better in my book than being knocked out by Margarito and coming back to stop a no hoper in Jennings.Comment
