That is, of course, dependant on him being able to beat Glen Johnson.

Oh and yes Dawson would dominate Pavlik.
I agree Kelly Pavlik wouldn't beat Dawson. I think Dawson
hits hard enough to drop Pavlik and is defensive enough to
get around Pavliks power. Berhnard showed what a fighter
can do with a some technical finnesse.

      wow

What has the world come to when you out class Tarver two times and you get no credit on Hbo. The kids a world class boxer ( should stop trying to brawl makes his fights harder than they should be) needs a little polish but there is no reason for hbo to give this kid a complex over beating a good A list guy like tarver. The fact he doesn't want to fight Glen again seems strange but this kid finds ways to win even when he is not the bigger puncher. He needs to stay at 175 cause when the two andre's get done with 168 more top name guys will be jumping to 175, than the list of ww jumping down to jr ww to fight pacman.

A post actually about this fight

Instead of talking about fights that won't happen I'll take my time to discuss this fight. Hats off to Antonio Tarver. He put up a hell of a fight. This was the fight I expected to see the first time around. I don't feel he did enough to win but I do feel you could make a small argument that he may have done enough for a draw. I was just about to say I scored the fight 115-113 for Dawson, but looking at my card and redoing the math I indeed had it a draw. Regardless, the first and tenth rounds I scored for Dawson but felt could have gone the other way. I scored the 8th for Tarver but felt it could have gone to Dawson. Either way, Tarver clearly won rounds 3, 7, 11, and 12, just how Harold Ledderman had it. I'll take no less on scores then that score of 116-112. 9-3 was as bad as Jim Lampley's commentary tonight as well has his inability to let the squeeze he had on Bad Chad's **** go. Steward was clearly watching the same fight I was. Now, speaking on Dawson and the fight, Dawson's hand speed was the difference in this fight. As Harold Ledderman pointed out, somewhere around round 7 or 8, if Tarver had landed the punches he was throwing he would have knocked Dawson out. Like the Johnson fight, Dawson never hurt Tarver, and like the Johnson fight, Dawson was hurt but responding. Dawson showed once again the ability and tendancy to fade in the championship rounds against top level competition. There aren't any huge fights as they mentioned for Dawson, because B-Hop only wants fights he can win, as well as someone worth his money... whoever that means at this point?, and Cal***gy aint coming back. I think Dawson could beat both of those guys, but may be beaten himself. Roy Jones doesn't want to get finished off yet so write him out of the equation for a possible fight with Dawson now. As Max Kellerman said, the next fight for Chad Dawson should indeed be a rematch with Glen Johnson. I was at that fight live and Johnson was robbed. Johnson in my eyes would give B-Hop and Cal***gy wars( yes I know B-Hop stopped him at junior middlewieght, and Cal***gy pulled out with Johnson numerous times) and would beat everyone else in that divsion without question. Bring on that rematch!!!!

I hear where you are coming from but I think it's more due to the fact that the second fight didn't show us anything we didn't already know. After the last fight Dawson got his credit for clearly beating Tarver and that built up a reputation for him hence why people were calling for a Bernard fight. However this fight was almost identical, no one introduced anything new and Dawson had already been given credit for beating Tarver. Everyone expected him to win and he did so but didn't do anything extra to gain him some more credit. The world is changing though!

I wasn't scoring the fight like you were but I can clearly see
that it was not a draw. Dawson won but Tarver put in his
work. Bernhard stopped Johson in his prime and NO one
has done that since so Bernhard gets a pass from having to
fight Glen Johnson again. Calzaghe, even though I'm not a
fan of his at all, I could see in this fight with Tarver and
Dawson that Calzaghe would most likely be too much for
Dawson because Joe is too active and Dawson takes off in
some rounds during the fight and you cannot afford to do
that with Joe. I say Dawson has a chance against anyone
but if he doesn't get that killer instinct he needs to be totally
dominate then he will always give a fighter a chance to
              get back into the fight.

Calzaghe would smack Dawson around for a long time until the ref or Chad's corner stopped the fight. He plants his feet predictably when he's about to punch, and he only fights in spurts. Joe would keep constant pressure on him, and he typically gets stronger as the fight goes on. Dawson would be unable to hurt Calzaghe, as we've seen he can take a punch.

What has the world come to? Tarver isn't (and hasn't been) an "A-list" fighter for years. He had one shining moment in his career against an over 35 Roy Jones Jr. Tarver didn't even score those wins when RJJ was in his prime. He's been beaten by every other top-level fighter before and since.

Dawson gets credit for the win, but it was unimpressive.

I dont reckon Chad would have been too mentally charged for this fight a kinda nothing fight that his contract said he must have ,, Chads a lot better than that performance .
