In all honesty, Manny Pacquiao is the face of boxing.

what alot of you mayweather fans are failing to realize is that there is a difference between being KNOWN and being popular.

Even though people know you, it doesnt mean they care to know you. When you're popular, people want a piece of you. People want to follow you. People want to praise you.

Manny Pacquiao is ****ing popular right now.

And he did it from the RING. Not from talk shows, not from reality TV shows, but from being a BOXER first, not a personality.

That is why Pac IS the face of boxing. Did floyd ever get this kind of hoopla after de la hoya? NO, nobody wants to remember that fight. After Hatton? NO. Look at Manny's hype after his 2 wins over the same fighters and sorry its no comparision. Bottom line is Manny is more likeable as a person and the casual fan can relate to Manny and his story more than they can Floyd.

This is all referring to US popularity. Globally it's never been close, Pacman stops wars in his country. End of story.

My uncle, who is nearing 60, likes Manny for these exact reasons. We were talking about it after the fight. He says Manny has a champions attitude and wishes to see him fight again.

Seriously why is it mostly Floyd fans who are disagreeing with this? There are people from all walks of life in this thread pretty much agreeing with the TS except...................you know.

Last saturday night at my local bar I was really surprised to see so many people of many ethnicities interested in the fight... Usually bars in NYC dont carry PPV fights not Puerto Rican(TITO, Cotto), Tyson, or DLH...

But, this night was different....It was pretty packed... The only difference is that DLH fights have much more women coming to watch....

Sidenote... It was kinda funny cuz I was drinking next to a few Mexican older guys and they were telling me how Pacquiao is Mexican and how they felt he was born in the wrong continent...lol

But if you count the changes since 16 years old, many fighters will have the same thing.

                For example:

When Manny was 16, he was fighting pro in Asia at 106 pounds. When Floyd was 16, he won the National Golden Gloves at ....106 pounds.

                Nahmean?

That is why the "he started at 106 pounds" thing has always been misleading.

Which would explain why pernell whitaker never enourmous following and was hated all over america. Whitaker being one of the most accomplished fighters of our time never, ever received that type of attention or love. and he fought EVERYBODY.

mannys style sells, and it sells quickly, hes entertaining and a great personality.

pure boxers like floyd arent ever going to have that kind of following. multiply that with the fact that hes not an ethnic national and you have a recipe for a guy who has no choice but to do intense self promotion. Floyds style is just not going to appeal, not to mention, he outright dominates most of the guys he fights.

With manny there is a chance hell get hit also, sometimes making fights go back and forth, like with morales and with marquez. Guys like whitaker, mayweather etc dominate with such arrogance and such bravado, you have to be a serious fan to really like them at all. If you know ray robinsons life and career, multiply what i just said by 500,000 due to the race card being in play, coupled with him being an outright *******

Yeah if you wanna count Floyd's amateur career then he'd have 6 losses before even turning pro...hmmmm

Floyd used Manny/Hatton's stage to create his 'buzz'...and guess what Pac took it all back with one left hand. I'm sorry but after his KO of Hatton it's Pac, and then everyone else.
