I agree 100%.The point of the article seems to be that boxers should avoid fighting anyone who is likely to beat them. I'm thankful that Froch doesn't share that mentality, because otherwise he wouldn't have fought Taylor in the first place.
Froch is flawed, but he wants to fight the best, win or lose. In this era of hand-picked opponents, it's refreshing to see.
If Froch continues on likes he's doing at the minute I'll tune in and watch him. Thats one reasons why I like Hatton, he wants to continually fight the best, to see if he is the best or not.
Thats what it should be all about.
Id like to see Froch Kessler next. Another step up for Froch, and its about time Kessler had another big fght to see if he's the real deal or not. Hope he sorts his management out and gets a fight with Froch.Comment

well froch is a very interesting fighter with a good chin and very good power. agianst calzaghe, it would be very hard for me to see him losing to froch, but calzaghe has a somewhat weak chin I will not count froch out. against kessler it would be a battle ..hard for me to pick one here. froch packs a punch this would be a very good fight..Comment

Co-sign. if he wants to call out the best fighters then let him. whats wrong with that. its good that he wants to fight the best, thats good for boxing. unlike calzaghe with his hand picked opponets, Froch is actually challenging himselfThe point of the article seems to be that boxers should avoid fighting anyone who is likely to beat them. exactly. say what u want about Froch but he's not scared of a challenge or to challenge himself. it took calzaghe over a decade to leave his home country to fight and when he finally did it was agaist two 40 year olds. Froch is trying to prove himself by actually calling out the best fighters so whats wrong with that. calzaghe damn sure didnt do thatNo way,no how,not ever! Why,you might ask?I'll tell you why.Calzaghe only fights old lions past their prime.Calzaghe vs Hoppkins,Calzaghe vs Jones are the only victories on which that bum can lay claim to beating anyone of consequence. Those are fights that should have happened 4 or 5 years ago!But why didn't they happen?Hoppkins called him out,Jones just laughed at him.Sure he beat Jones(now that he's an old lion with no teeth),but hoppkins should have been given the nod for that fight, considering he was the only one doing the fighting.Say what you will about this posting, but the fact remains that Calzaghe would have never come to the U.S. to do what Froch did!Which is,cross the pond and take on a young in their prime fighter such as Taylor. Can anyone dispute that?I doubt it.Comment

You seriously under-estimate Dawson and Kessler, IMO. I think Froch-Bute is a pick 'em fight though.
Calzaghe shook Kessler with a body punch, he punches pretty hard to the body. He didn't hit with full force to the head in his late career because of his fragile hands, but his never held back with his body punches.
Kessler beat Andrade with ease, and was never in the slightest trouble against him.
You should read up on the problems he's had with Palle, his promoter, and their court case, before posting ignorant comments like that. And in the post-fight interview, Froch was specifically asked if he wanted to fight Kessler, and he ignored the question and called out Calzaghe.Last edited by Dave Rado; 04-27-2009, 05:55 PM.Comment

Good post, I agree. I would expect Froch to look much better in the early rounds if there were a rematch. Froch said after the fight that he had allowed the occasion to get to him, and that he had felt like a deer in the headlights in the early rounds.A huge flaw of this article is that it doesn't consider that Froch's poor first 6 rounds might be attributable to a variety of factors. Excessive nerves, a huge jump in class, fighting abroad, a hostile crowd etc.
Taylor tired, yes; but as he did so, Froch also settled his nerves, found confidence and regained some of the composure he's shown in the past.
Taylor has been 12 rounds many times, he's a pro athlete in his prime, he didn't suddenly start to gas because of age or lack of road work: Froch MADE him gas, like Pavlik before him.Last edited by Dave Rado; 04-27-2009, 06:21 PM.Comment
