good article, i agree with it.

froch is one dimensional and was lucky he fought the fighter he did a fighter notorious for not being able to finish fights.

Froch wouldnt beat calzaghe..period, style-wise he would get beat to the punch and even if /when he lands his big punches/uppercut it wouldnt do much on joe C.

Calzaghe, Kessler and id add Bute.
How do you know he wouldn't beat Dawson, Kessler, or Bute? I admit that Calzaghe, and Hopkins win 19 times out of 20, but I don't think the others are huge favourites to win against Froch.

Dawson has been hurt a few times in his career, and Kessler was shaken by light fisted Calzaghe. Froch only needs to land a couple of good rights and the fight is over. I would say he has a good punchers chance against Kessler, and Dawson.

Also Kessler has a reputation as a world beater, but at this moment in time Froch has one win that eclipses all Kesslers wins. Kessler is a mandatory man. He lost his first real test. Plus, Dawson hasn't impressed me too much either. He struggled against Johnson, and his last, and next fight, are against Tarver; a man who is shot.

I just think Froch is getting a lot of flack, even though he KO'd a genuine world class fighter. Something Kessler, and Dawson, have never done.

Pavlik had the same backlash after his first fight with Taylor.

A huge flaw of this article is that it doesn't consider that Froch's poor first 6 rounds might be attributable to a variety of factors. Excessive nerves, a huge jump in class, fighting abroad, a hostile crowd etc.

Taylor tired, yes; but as he did so, Froch also settled his nerves, found confidence and regained some of the composure he's shown in the past.

Taylor has been 12 rounds many times, he's a pro athlete in his prime, he didn't suddenly start to gas because of age or lack of road work: Froch MADE him gas, like Pavlik before him.

Which is undeserved. Pavlik is a good fighter, and would struggle against the likes of Kessler, and Dawson, just like Froch would. But nobody can say they don't have a chance of winning because they do. Both Pavlik, and Froch, have better wins than Kessler.

Dawson eats guys like Froch for breakfast, Froch is so fundamentally flawed, Dawson will take serious advantage of that. Kessler and Bute has already taken care of boxers that are fundamentally flawed (Librado Andrade).

As for a Dawson fight happening, it all depends if Dawson wants to move down to 168.

Why shouldnt he call them out and fight them? He's a top fighter and he wants to fight the best. How do we know he wouldnt beat them. On paper its easy to make predictions, but when you step in the ring you never know how the fight will pan out.

It's hard to make predictions on fights that are 50/50 or 60/40 like Taylor-Froch was. But Dawson would turn Froch into a punching bag, that's very easy to see.

The point of the article seems to be that boxers should avoid fighting anyone who is likely to beat them. I'm thankful that Froch doesn't share that mentality, because otherwise he wouldn't have fought Taylor in the first place.

Froch is flawed, but he wants to fight the best, win or lose. In this era of hand-picked opponents, it's refreshing to see.
