Dawson Hoping Hopkins is Next After Tarver Rematch

mismatch or not, according to the article I posted Cloud is Dawson's mandatory challenge, so if he doesn't fight him, Dawson will be stripped of at least one of his beltsComment

Pavlik let his hands go, he was just outclassed. I even remember him landing a few good body shots and right hands, but Hopkins just walked straight through all of that. I also agree that Hopkins as of now has better defense than Dawson, my point was that Tarver looked much more stronger against Dawson and he actually let his hands go. I didn't see Tarver let his hands go( only in a few spurts) one time against Hopkins, and he seemed gassed from the middle rounds on. Even a blown up faded Winky did a lot better than Tarver did.he didn't let his hands go against Hopkins because he couldn't. Why do you think Pavlik had the exact same problem?? Hopkins is a harder opponent to hit, has much better defense than Dawson. Dawson got hit with solid shots because he was there to be hit at times, hopkins was never there.Comment

I know Tavoris Cloud is the mandatory, and that is certainly a dangerous fight for Dawson, but I'd like to see Cloud work on his craft a bit. They were talking about matching him up against Calzaghe about a year or so ago. I was like 'NOOOO!!' They need to stop rushing these prospects, he still fights in bursts. Although he may be ready for a great fight against Dawson. I'd probably give the edge to the champ though.Comment

You know what the pecking order is though. Hopkins is THE man AND money at LHW. its Cloud>Dawson>Hopkins. If Hopkins TRULY doesnt want to fight Dawson, kills the options, then Dawson, in MY opinion has 2 options, stick to LHW and fight either Johnson or Cloud, or move down to SMW and take on Kessler, Taylor or maybe even Pavlik. ****, throw Williams in there too.
But if he does stick to LHW and doesnt fight Cloud or Johnson, then at that point, "the haters" can credibly say he's ducking them.Comment

I didn't say he shouldn't fight him, and actually its a fight i want to see. I just said it would be a technical shutout if Dawson does what hes suppose to do and sticks to his game plan, because hes beaten better fighters than Cloud already. I'll also be glad to take your points when this fight happens.Comment

Umm, no pavlik never let his hands go he could never throw more than 1 or 2 shots at the most. I've watched the fight like 9-10 times now and I recall pavlik landing 1 or 2 semi-solid shots the entire fight, it was a mirror image of the Tarver fight.
As of now? As of always & forever.I also agree that Hopkins as of now has better defense than Dawson
The lateral movement fucked Tarver up. Tarver is like Pavlik in a way in that once you take their main weapon away (the 1-2), they got nothing left. Hopkins took their best weapon and left them with nothing. Again, that's why neither fighter could "let their hands go."my point was that Tarver looked much more stronger against Dawson and he actually let his hands go. I didn't see Tarver let his hands go( only in a few spurts) one time against Hopkins, and he seemed gassed from the middle rounds on. Even a blown up faded Winky did a lot better than Tarver did.
Winky stylistically is an entirely different ball game, their styles do not go well together.Comment

You really think it would be a shutout? Damn, Dawson is severely overrated on this board!!I didn't say he shouldn't fight him, and actually its a fight i want to see. I just said it would be a technical shutout if Dawson does what hes suppose to do and sticks to his game plan, because hes beaten better fighters than Cloud already. I'll also be glad to take your points when this fight happens.
If the fight happens come at me I'll bet 100k.Comment

Tarver had to play the role of the aggressor against Dawson as well, because he was boxing, the only difference is that he actually let his hands go and worked. Also, Tarver showed he could be an effective aggressor against Jones( in their third fight) so its not like he had to come forward for the first time in his career and was completely lost. He brought smart pressure on Jones, let his hands go when he went to the ropes and threw combination's. As i said, Hopkins may have had something to do with Tarver fighting the way he did, but to ME some of that has to contribute to his problems. Ive never seen Tarver just stare at someone while getting the socks boxed off of him.First off, Tarver is a counter puncher for the most part, so he was waiting a bit in the Hopkins fight trying to feel him out. Unfortunately for him, once he was forced to swing, he was reminded why Hopkins was so dominant in his career. He's a great defensive fighter. Combine that with Hopkins timing Tarver off his jab, and you have the typical Hopkins opponent cry.
"IT WASN'T ME IN THERE, I COULDN'T DO WHAT I WANTED TO DO. IT'S NOT BECAUSE OF HIM, IT'S BECAUSE OF ME!"
Nono Tarver, it's because of him. That's what a master does in there, he takes you out your gameplan and gets into your head. And Tarver had some decent attempts in the first few rounds, after that Hopkins took the man's confidence away though.Comment

I doubt Hopkins cares much about facing him. Byt he looks of things he si going to retire, or possibly wants 1 last pay day.Comment
