I have to agree with this post. If Juan Manuel Marquez would whip Edwin Valero so bad, why wouldn't JMM go for that Light Weight title and make
his bargaining position even better when he goes for Manny? If Bob Arum
is ready to throw Valero in with Marquez and Valero is willing then why
would it be a mistake for Valero to fight Marquez?

if juan diaz who is known for not having one punch ko power can hurt jmm, & if (at that particular time) a one dimensional one armed bandit southpaw power punching phenom (geez, who does that sound like now) like Pacquiao can knock down a prime, fresh, 30 year old marquez, i reckon valero who has power in both fist stands a good chance of rocking marquez.

U dont outbox a boxer just like u dont bull**** a bull****ter. U do what u do best & what valero does best is to try to overwhelm u with POWER, DECEPTIVE SPEED, & OVERWHELMING PRESSURE. Pacquiao started at 106, made his bones in 122,126,130 divisions, yet he overpowers marquez at times.

Valero started at 130/126. Hes now a full blown lightweight who will probably end his career at 140. He's more than a live dog vs JMM.

I would like to see the fight, but I honestly think at this point Marquez deserves bigger fights for more money. He's earned that.

Valero would have a (small) punchers chance at best, but I say he gets schooled, embarrassed and put to sleep at this stage. He has a lot of shine and polish before he can compete at that level.

Cuz Valero brings no money. GBP can make Marquez/Pac or Hatton and make JMM at least 5 mill. Valero will bring maybe 1 mill. JMM aint gettin in the ring for that.
Valero needs to prove he can beat anyone in the top ten and keep that belt till JMM gives him a shot.
JMM doesnt need to prove anything to him. Valero needs to prove himself.
When Valero proves he's worthy JMM will gladly k.o him.

Valero cant get JMM in the ring for 1 mill, lol. He needs to build up his marketability and prove to JMM that he can bring money to the table. Jmm has nothing to prove to Valero right now. Valero does. JMM fears no man..he will fight Valero if Valero is worthy.
If it's an easy fight for JMM then why don't he take it & get that Belt from Valero instead of immediately chasing Pacquiao? JMM is the man of the division. Wouldn't it be smart to totally clean out 135 & stregthen your negotiation power if it's about $? Bottom line is that Edwin Valero is a risk for anyone right now because of his power, so all of these excuses that he needs to prove himself before he gets a shot at JMM is not doing for me, especially since Valero has a strap and he and Bob Arum is calling for that fight because obviously he ain't afraid of losing.

Doesnt someone have an IBF belt too? Does JMM have to win that as well before he can get out of fighting Valero lol?? You are working under the assumption that JMM and Valero are equals...theyre not. So what if Valero got a belt? It was a vacant belt that was vacated by Pac who took it off Diaz who basically had it handed to him when Casa was stripped. That belt means nothing. Valero may have a punchers chance against anyone but since when is that enough to leapfrog everyone in the division to fight the sports best? JMM doesnt need to improve his negotiating powah for Pac 3. That fight has a mandate from the fans and will be made regardless. Hatton also wants JMM if he wins and him picking up one more trinket isnt goint to change that.
Valero needs to prove himself in a big way. He should fight Funeka, see how that works out for him.
Think about it...since arriving at LW JMM k.o'd Diaz and Casa...Valero k.o'd Pitalua and now deserves a title shot??? Ummm...no.

How many opponents would you say Edwin Valero needs to beat to get a
shot at Juan Manuel Marquez? I can understand if Edwin Valero wasn't a champ of the division but he is and should get a chance to unify the titles like Marquez did. I think Manuel Marquez is a great fighter and I would want to see Valero/Marquez before Marquez/Pacquiao 3 at this point (Been there see that). I agree Marquez earned a big $ fight but who even knows if Manny will look for Marquez if he beats Hatton? Marquez is the REAL DEAL champ at 135 & he's ready to leave that legacy to chase Pacquiao? He should be writing his own chapter & becoming the man not chasing the man in my opinion.

dont blame marquez for not wanting to risk his position(value) vs a young power punching relative unknown. Everybody knows he's chasing Pacquiao, but the pac man has stated his plans already should he beat fatboy, pretty boy is next w/ marquez as the back up plan if negotiations fail w/ floyd.

Still if marquez gets passed over for floyd, he still has ricky hatton to fall back on. So if youre jmm, ricky hatton for 5mil plus, or unknown punching monster for about 2 mil?

I dont hate the fight. I think JMM will add another name in beating him. But I'd say Valero should fight 3 times at LW to see how he fares against top 5 guys. Fight a Funeka, Juan Diaz, Katsidis, Soto, Casa... If you can beat 3 of those guys...then he is worthy. I'd mention Guzman but that guys too erratic to count on...
Im not saying to never fight him...but let the fight build a little. To most people Valero is still a curiosity.

Hey man, I hear you and agree on certain things but JMM also has one of Nate Campbells straps from when he got stripped on the scales. I wouldn't mind seeing Marquez/Pacquiao 3 or Marquez/Hatton but if Edwin Valero is as trash as everyone is saying then I want to see the best elite expose him if he can. Why prolonge it? I guess it's reasonable because the $
would be better for Pacquiao/Hatton but I remember when Floyd Mayweather Jr did/does it then he's ducking the best? I say he earned big $ fights more than anyone. People talk about how great Marquez is but don't want Floyd to fight him because they think it's a mismatch? Now Marquez shouldn't fight Valero because the $'s not there & Valero is not on his level? Too many excuses in my book.
