  • the only time mayweather draws fans is when he fights hatton, oscar,,and those were responsible for the big draws, buys, not floyd,,,,i mean,do the casual fans want to pay 50 bucks for him to stink it up like he did against oscar?..guys like the marquez, cotto's,pacman, those are the ones casual fans want to see, mayweather will sell depending on the opponent, believe me manny will sell more facing judah than floyd facing judah...

Just explain why Oscar and Hatton made more fighting Floyd than anybody before.

        Oh the hypocrisy.
nobody thinks that pac should jump to WW. he would get destroyed by e, ither cotto or mayflower.

try to stay on topic, which is that cotto would ask for a lot less, would be easier to promote (both are top rank) and cotto has a larger following

mayflower doesn't sell by himself. hatton sells, DLH sells. that's why those are his only 2 good PPV fights saleswise

anyways, pac better stay in 135 and 140

I bet if Cotto fought Manny you'd be fine with that.
Where's your evidence for saying that?

It would be a legacy fight for Pac, if he won. It would not be a legacy fight for Cotto, even if he won by KO. I've never seen anyone claim that it would be a legacy fight for Cotto. So no hypocrisy at all, except on your part for pretending people are saying it would be a legacy fight for Cotto when they're not.

If Manny doesn't need Floyd he sure as hell doesn't need a quitting maricon from Welfare Island.

All this talk about drawing power, can we please take a look at what's been put on the table so far? We know that it's been reported that Mayweather's team was looking for a match in July on regular HBO. Speculation is that this tune-up fight could be used as leverage for his following fight, which would be PPV. If Mayweather's PPV drawing power is so solid, why not come back directly to PPV? (It could still happen that way I know.)

The hurt business is like the entertainment business in that it's almost always a case of "What have you done lately?" Lately, Floyd has been out of the ring for a minute. I understand that WWE and "Dancing With The Stars" raised his public profile outside of the boxing world tremendously, but we can't assume that he automatically does huge numbers because of those appearances. Not every TV star can be a movie star. The casual fan needs to see Floyd back in the ring to get really excited by him again, IMO. Whatever his drawing power was in the past will be used in negotiations, but really, it's all about what he can draw in 2009 and we still don't know what he can draw now.

Having said all this, I would buy any of the following PPVs: Mayweather vs. JMM, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao, Mayweather vs. Cotto, Mayweather vs. Mosley, Pac vs. Cotto. I mean, how could you miss any of these fights?
Oscar is the biggest draw in boxing we can all agree on that. When he lost to Mayweather did he go straight back to PPV? NO!!! He fought Forbes on regular HBO because he was looking ahead for a big PPV rematch with Floyd. So people who know boxing plan ahead. Like you said you will buy any PPV event with Floyd in it and so would everybody else posting. But would you buy all of Cotto's PPV? And your answer will probably be NO. Because if that was true he would have did more than 150,000 buys in his return bout against Jennings. When was the last time Floyd only did 150,000 buys? It just kills me how everybody can say Floyd didnt do big numbers without DeLahoya or Hatton. Tell me who was Delahoya and Hatton fighting to get their biggest draws in PPV? Dont fall for Arum b.s. even he knows Floyd is a bigger draw in PPV than Cotto. What do any of you honestly think PAC will fight in New York? Always remember the numbers DONT lie!!

              • First of all, who cares about the past. Mayweather fought DLH and Hatton, and the numbers were huge. Whether it's due to those two or not, Money May is a HUGE star now. He's a bigger star than all of them. He would mop the floor with Pacquiao, and Arum and Roach know that. Hatton is going to beat Pacquiao anyways. Mayweather should man the **** up and fight Paul Williams after Paul beats Winky, to determine the REAL #1 P4P.

Bob Arum is a bitter ***** thats it...
                  you still don't get it?

it doesn't matter who's a bigger name because they're not too far apart in recognition (PPV sales prove that)

the little difference in their sales will really be affected in the contract, where floyd will ask MUCH more than cotto would, and would even lose more time and money than cotto, since cotto and pac are under arum

cotto vs pac could be made in 3 hours. pac vs floyd would take months. time is money you know
