Floyd did fight Hatton at jnr welter , just look at what Hatton weighed in the ring with Castillo and in the ring with Floyd the 1 pound difference , they just weighed in under the welterweight limit , but they were jnr welters on fight night and Hatton got his ass handed to him , this Hatton aint been beat at 140 is a crock of horse **** !! the only reason why it was for Floyds title because it had more prestige and Ricky didnt want to risk his , Hatton and his trainer both said how small Floyd looked and both said he is not a welter , it was all big gain no risk for Hatton and after it blew up in his face he starts with the weight bull**** , he weighed more than Floyd on fight night for crying out load .

Floyd offered Hatton the fight Twice at 140 but Hatton's team said Ricky was not ready yet. A Champion not ready???
Floyd moved up in weight to track down The Golden Boy and there was even talk about getting Mosley.

      From what I remember hearing:
Tszyu vs. Mayweather: Tszyu was on Showtime and Mayweather was on HBO. Neither were PPV stars. Separate channels; hard to make a fight.
Floyd took the easy option and that was to fight Gatti (who was also on HBO)for his JrWW title. That fight would serve to boost Floyd's numbers in order to get a possible fight with Tszyu by making the fight more lucrative for Showtime and HBO to come together for a PPV title fight....or so it was said. For Tszyu, his path was through Hatton because Hatton offered the most money at the time. I think Hatton may have also been his mandatory for his title. In the end, Floyd needed to get by Gatti and Tszyu needed to get by Hatton and they could have set-up a PPV fight. But Tszyu lost. Similar situation with the Oscar fight.

Tszyu also mentioned in an interview (after the Hatton defeat) that if he wanted to come back, he knew he could get a fight with Mayweather. This indicates to me Floyd was always willing to fight him and Tszyu knew the fight was still on the table despite the loss.

The reason why the fight ended up being at 147 was because Floyd was the P4P best fighter in the World at the time as well as holding a Title at 147 and 154. So, now, Hatton was to come to him.

For weight: Floyd is said to weigh-in around 149 tops for his WW fights. That's the same weight or maybe slightly less (depending on the fight) that Hatton comes in for his JrWW fights by fight-time. Most JrWW fighters tend to come in at 149 give or take a few pounds.

So, I have no problem with Floyd for this particular topic.

The rules of boxing are that in order to fight at Jnr Welterweight you have to weigh 140lb on the scales at the weigh-in the day before the fight. Floyd weighed 147lbs at the weigh-in.
